📢Join us - the Chamber and WCB Nova Scotia’s CEO, Karen Adams, MBA, ICD.D - for lunch to learn how injury prevention, timely recovery, and staying connected to work lead to better business performance, a more productive workforce, and a stronger province.

Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) protects the Nova Scotia workforce by preventing workplace injury, and supporting an early and safe return to work when injury happens.

For employers, the WCB:
✔️ Help prevent injuries and strengthen safety culture
✔️Protect against lawsuits related to workplace injuries
✔️Support early and safe return to work to reduce the human and financial impact of injury
✔️Offer incentives and services to help return injured workers to suitable work
For workers, the WCB:
✔️Provide financial benefits to help replace lost income
✔️Cover health care and rehabilitation costs
✔️Help plan for a safe, quick return to work —if needed
✔️Offer long-term support in the rare cases where returning to work is not possible
✔️Support families who face the aftermath of workplace tragedy

The WCB also lead safety campaigns and public education to create lasting change in workplace safety.

👏🏼 Thank you to EVERYONE who came out yesterday morning and helped make the 2026 Annual Mayor's Breakfast a wonderful event!!

First, thank you to both Mayor Elspeth McLean-Wile and Mayor David Mitchell for continuing to participate in this yearly opportunity to speak directly to our Chamber and community and answer questions with grace & consideration.

We appreciate your engagement, your leadership, and the role you each play in strengthening our business community!

A big thank you to our Chamber member and hosts, Stonemont By the Shore for providing such a beautiful space and wonderful service. We're especially grateful to Sue Savoie, the Executive Director, for welcoming us, and a shout out to Art Finlayson, who prepared our delicious buffet breakfast, all while continuing to serve the residents in the next room! We appreciate your hospitality.

☕This Thursday, April 23rd is the Chamber's 2026 Annual Mayors Breakfast! (NOTE: this event is already SOLD OUT!🚨 )

It's that time of year again, where we welcome the mayors, David Mitchell, Mayor of Bridgewater, and Elspeth McLean-Wiles, Mayor of MODL, to review the accomplishments of the last year and discuss the challenges, opportunities and plans for the future.

We're mixing it up this year with a new location! There will be delicious buffet breakfast in the dining room at Stonemont By the Shore in Cookville. This beautiful new facility has been very supportive of the Chamber since they opened, and we are delighted to welcome you there!

As the Executive Director of the Chamber, I was proud to attend the Mersey River Wind announcement at the invitation of both Renewall Energy and our MP, Jessica Fancy MP! It meant a great deal to see the Bridgewater Chamber included in such a significant moment for our region.

As MP Fancy shared, this is “a huge win for and clean energy in Nova Scotia.” In her first year as MP, she worked with three federal partners to stack funding in a way that hasn’t been done before to get the Mersey River Wind project across the finish line.

That collaboration includes the Canada Infrastructure Bank, Natural Resources Canada, and Slate Asset Management — and the results are substantial:

➡️ $206M from the Canada Infrastructure Bank to build Mersey River Wind
➡️ Up to $160M in federal clean energy tax credits — among the first projects in Canada to benefit from this new program
➡️ $25M from Natural Resources Canada to support construction
➡️ 33 wind turbines (148.5 MW) — enough to power 50,000+ homes
➡️ 200+ jobs during peak construction
➡️ 220,000 tonnes of emissions avoided annually as we move off coal
➡️ A first-of-its-kind license allowing renewable power to be sold directly to Nova Scotians

Nova Scotia’s Renewable-to-Retail model will allow businesses and organizations to choose 100% locally produced renewable electricity at stable and competitive rates.

The Town of Bridgewater as an organization will in fact be a customer of Renewall. The Town facilities/ operations will be entirely powered by this renewable power with locked-in and stable power rates.

Also, congratulations to Chamber Member and Sponsor, Bridgewater Ready Mix LTD , as one of the many contractors supporting this project! They have been a leading champion for emission reduction in the concrete industry.
