Optimist Club of Scotland and District Optimist Club of Scotland & District has been proudly serving the youth of the community since 1993

Purposes of Optimist International

To develop optimism as a philosophy of life utilizing the tenets of the Optimist Creed;

To promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs;

To inspire respect for the law;

To promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people;

To aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that the giving of

one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of humankind, community life and the world.

Tuesday June 23rd will be our “fun night”. Games followed by hot dogs, drinks, goodie bags, ice cream and Timbits medals!

We will extend the program for nights that are missed!

🎓 Calling all graduating students! 🎓

The Burford Optimist Club is excited to launch our annual Essay Contest, with a $1,000 award for a student heading to post-secondary school this fall!

This year’s topic is:

“How My Acts of Service Help Me Understand What My Community Means to Me”

We want to hear from Grade 12 and older students who live in the Burford area and are planning to enroll in post-secondary education in Fall 2026. This is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the value of community, service, and the impact young people can make.

📝 Essay length: 500–750 words
📅 Contest runs: June 1–30, 2026
⏰ Deadline: Midnight on June 30, 2026
