This summer, 32 young people and leaders from BERG congregations in Germany took part in a youth mission camp in Slovakia.

Their journey began with four days of canoeing along the River Hron. Long days on the water, overturned canoes and changing campsites tested the group, but also brought them closer together. Their shared experiences gave fresh meaning to their Bible studies and reminded them how deeply they depend upon God’s grace.

The group then joined missionary Thomas Herwing for four days of outreach among Roma communities in eastern Slovakia. Despite temperatures nearing 40°C, they shared the hope of the Gospel through songs in Slovak and Hungarian, short dramas, messages and personal conversations.

One especially moving reunion was with Monika, a young woman the team had prayed for after she was struck by two cars and spent months in a coma. This summer, they were able to see her again and hear her speak about Jesus and how He had saved her.

At the end of the camp, many participants said that the days of mission and outreach had encouraged and affected them most deeply.

Please join us in thanking God for a richly blessed camp and for His protection throughout the journey. Pray that these young people will remain connected, grow in faith and continue sharing the hope they have found in Christ.
