🇨🇦⚓ Meet the man who is the namesake of the Navy League Cadet Corps in Brantford who refused to go quietly when the Government made big changes to the RCN in 1968.

Rear-Admiral William Landymore served Canada through the fires of World War II — and then faced a different kind of battle at home. When Defence Minister Paul Hellyer pushed to dissolve Canada’s Army, Navy, and Air Force into a single unified force, Landymore did something rare: he said no.
He rallied opposition. He refused to resign when ordered. He was fired for it.
And when he returned to Halifax? The crowds cheered.
He didn’t win the fight — the Royal Canadian Navy was dissolved in 1968 — but he never stopped standing for what he believed in. Some battles are worth fighting even when you know the outcome.
A Brantford boy. A war veteran. A man who chose his convictions over his career.
We don’t forget the ones who fought for us — even when the enemy was bureaucracy. 🎖️
