Soup for the Soul

Soup for the Soul The Soup for the Soul Program at St. On average we serve over 200 people at each meal.

Andrew’s United Church provides a complete, nutritionally-balanced, take-out meal Monday-Friday from 1pm-2pm served at the front door of the Church Building doors. Patrons include youth under 16, seniors, those with disabilities, unemployed, working people, homeless and transient people. Our approach is holistic in nature and we offer non-judgmental care and support for the people who enter our do

ors. Our program vision is to be a valued resource to our community, by having a positive impact through the promotion of social networking, the reduction of isolation, and the promotion of community cohesion. It is becoming more important for ongoing and expanded food, housing, advocacy and other programs in our community

We were donated Pork Knuckles a few months ago. They sat in the freezer for a bit while we waited for some inspiration. Today we braised the Knuckles in a craft beer and made a gravy with the drippings. The shredded meat was served over fresh made Spaëtzle with a side of cucumber tomato salad and vegan meringue with cakepop stuffing (made from a homemade chocolate cake and icing).
Thank you to all our volunteers who worked so hard to make this meal happen.
