🐚✨ LIKE FATHER, LIKE DAUGHTER… WITH A LITTLE MAGIC FROM MOM! ❤️

🎩🐾 ABRA-CAT-DABRA YOUTH VENDOR SPOTLIGHT!

Meet MAGGIE MARK! 💕 She's 12 years old, incredibly creative, and getting ready for her VERY FIRST vendor market!

And wait until you hear where her creativity comes from!

Some of you may already know her dad, Steve “Bubba” Mark, the creative talent behind Bubba's Boardz ! 🪵❤️

Yep! THAT Bubba! The man who turns wood and other treasures into beautiful handmade creations!

Well, apparently creativity runs in the family!

Maggie and her dad love going on beach adventures hunting for SEA GLASS! 🐚🌊 What others might walk right past, Maggie sees as possibilities.

She transforms these little treasures, along with sea glass gifted from other parts of the world, into the most adorable handmade cards, art and decor!

And then there's Mom, Jen Zdunich Mark ! ❤️

Maggie says her mom taught her everything about crafting. But our favourite part of her introduction?

“Now she helps me instead of me helping her!” 😂👏

Between Dad's creative business, Mom's crafting skills and Maggie's imagination, this family has something pretty special going on!

And Maggie isn't stopping at sea glass! She's bringing bracelets, loom and clay-bead creations, ornaments and more!

🐾 At home, she has THREE kitties and a puppy who follow her everywhere, occasionally allow dress-up sessions and apparently spend considerable time under Mom's feet! 😂

💃 She loves lyrical dance, telling stories through music, and karaoke nights with Mom and her bestie! 🎤

But when we asked Maggie what she loves most about making things, her answer melted us.

She loves seeing people SMILE when they buy her art. 🥹❤️

And THAT, right there, is why these youth markets matter.

This little girl has grown up surrounded by creativity, encouragement and people who MAKE things instead of just dreaming about them.

Now it's HER turn.

Her first table. Her own creations. Her own customers. Her own little moment to shine.

Imagine how Maggie will feel when YOU stop at her table and choose something she made with her own two hands. ❤️

That's a feeling no amount of money can buy.

☕🐾 Altitude Coffee Roasters TO THE RESCUE… AGAIN!!! ❤️

Because apparently I remembered the kids, the vendors, the volunteers, the magic, the prizes, the Mariano's Pizza-Lynden Road pizza, the Maria's West: Pizza Pasta Pastry cannoli… EVERYTHING.

Except the COFFEE for the PARENTS and ADULTS!!! 🤦‍♀️🤣

Enter RYAN from Altitude Coffee! ☕❤️

One last-minute plea from a very sleep-deprived rescue momma and this wonderful human said YES!!!

Not only did Ryan generously offer us his coffee machine for Sunday's Abra-CAT-dabra event… he sent us home with a SCALE to measure the coffee properly and gave us brewing instructions!

A SCALE, PEOPLE. Apparently coffee making is a science. Who knew?! 🤣☕

Now, knowing my brain is currently operating on about 3% battery, I called my dear friend Marlene Mckenzie and asked her to come with me.

Because surely TWO sleep-deprived mommas could retain ONE set of coffee-making instructions?! 🤣🤣

And of course, Marlene answered that call too. ❤️

Ryan even treated us to coffee while we were there. Because that's just the kind of guy he is.

But here's what really gets me. ❤️

Look around Altitude Coffee and you'll see a business that genuinely LOVES its community. Support for local causes, organizations and people is everywhere.

Ryan was even wearing a Why Not Youth hoodie! ❤️

We've happily supported his Why Not City Missions coffee pucks because we believe in what he's doing. And clearly, he believes in what our kids are doing too. ☕️ 🏒

THAT is what community is supposed to look like. Picked up my BScene magazine too ♥️

Small businesses supporting each other. Good people showing up for good people. And adults coming together to make something special happen for the NEXT generation.

Ryan, thank you for saying YES when this exhausted momma came calling. Thank you for the coffee, the kindness, the patience and the brewing lesson that may or may not have survived the drive home. 😂

And Marlene… thank you for answering yet ANOTHER one of my calls. At this point you probably need to stop picking up. 🤣❤️

❤️ BRANT COUNTY FAMILIES… WE NEED YOU TO SHOW UP FOR OUR KIDS THIS SUNDAY! 🥹🐾

We have the YOUTH. We have the prizes. We have the magic. We have the fun. We have an incredible community of supporters who have helped make it ALL possible.

But there's ONE thing we can't do ourselves… FILL THAT HALL WITH FAMILIES!

And that's where YOU come in. ❤️

Bring your kids. Bring your friends. Bring your grandparents. Come shop, laugh, play, win some prizes and most importantly…

SHOW THESE YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS WHAT COMMUNITY SUPPORT REALLY FEELS LIKE!

Some of these kids are opening their very FIRST little shops. Some are nervous. Some have spent weeks creating, building, baking and preparing. Some are stepping WAY outside their comfort zones.

And ALL of them deserve to see people standing in front of their tables, admiring their creations and believing in what they're doing.

And trust me… YOUR kids are going to LOVE this event. But even better? They're going to leave INSPIRED. ❤️

Our host, 16-year-old Will Finch, knows what it feels like when a community believes in a kid with a dream.

He founded Good Will Good Karma Youth Animal Rescue at just 8 years old. And since then, that little boy with a big heart has grown into a young man recognized not only for his rescue work, but for leadership, sportsmanship and community involvement.

For EVERY young vendor and volunteer to feel that SAME love and support that he's been so fortunate to experience. 🥹❤️

Not another award for himself. Not another pat on the back.

He wants these kids to succeed.

He wants them to feel proud. To build confidence. To realize that their ideas matter and that their community is rooting for them.

Because sometimes all it takes is ONE person showing up, buying something handmade, offering a compliment or saying "WOW, you made this?!" to give a child the confidence to keep going.

And THAT is the kind of magic you can't buy a ticket for. ❤️

Some people support a fundraiser. Some go above and beyond.

And then there's the SOOS FAMILY! ❤️

Becca, Mark, Daniel and Emily Soos have done something HUGE for our upcoming ABRA-CAT-DABRA! Magic Show & Youth Vendor Market.

They sponsored our Rope Factory hall rental. ! 🥹

But HOW they did it makes this even more special.

Remember our Fur Ball fundraiser? The Soos family bid on a Rope Factory rental gift certificate that had been generously donated to our auction.

They WON IT!

And what did they do with their prize?

TURNED AROUND AND USED IT TO SUPPORT ANOTHER GWGK FUNDRAISER!

Seriously. WHO DOES THAT?! ❤️

They supported one fundraiser to help us create ANOTHER fundraiser. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that generosity!

Now, I asked Becca for a nice family photo so we could recognize them properly.

FOUR CATS.

Not Becca. Not Mark. Not Daniel. Not Emily.

FOUR RESCUED CATS. 🤣

Apparently, the cats run the household and the humans are simply unpaid staff.

Honestly, this family ALWAYS makes us laugh. And they ALWAYS show up for us.

And they're not done yet!

🎶 DANIEL SOOS — 17-year-old BCI 💙💛student, musician, songwriter and composer — will be sharing his incredible musical talents on Sunday! Please stop, listen and show his tip jar some love!

🎨 Becca Soos will have a booth showcasing her beautiful, fantasy-inspired artistic creations.

And honestly? I don't think Becca realizes just how talented she is. Her imagination and creativity are something special. Please visit her booth, admire her work and show her the encouragement she deserves! ❤️

Mark and Emily round out this wonderfully creative, funny, artistic, cat-loving family with enormous hearts.

Here's what makes this gift so meaningful.

They didn't just cover the cost of a hall.

They helped create a space where young entrepreneurs can dream, young volunteers can lead, young artists can shine, and our rescue can continue helping animals in need.

They believe in our kids. They believe in our mission. And they keep showing up. ❤️

Our wonderful Robin Crockett of Robin's Nest Hair Parlour and her equally wonderful mom, Beth Walsh , are at it AGAIN!

Remember those 24 FREE BOO Bags Robin put together for our youngest guests at Abra-CAT-dabra? 🎃

Well, apparently that wasn't enough!

LOOK WHAT ELSE HAS ARRIVED!!! 👀🧡

Halloween craft boxes filled with spooky creativity and fun! And because these two are all about giving, these goodies may help us raise even MORE money for the animals in our care, with 💯% of the proceeds going directly to Good Will Good Karma! 🐾❤️

What really gets us is that Robin and Beth don't just donate things. They put thought, love💓 and genuine excitement into making our events special.
