✨APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!!✨

The County of Brant Fire Department is excited to announce that applications are now open for Camp Phoenix Brant, a unique leadership and firefighting experience designed to inspire young women to explore careers in the fire service. 🔥

This year marks the 5th anniversary of Camp Phoenix, a milestone that highlights the program’s continued success in introducing participants to the skills, teamwork, and confidence required in the fire service.

“Camp Phoenix continues to inspire young women to consider careers in the fire service while building confidence, leadership, and lifelong connections,” said Fire Chief Darren Watson. “Reaching our fifth year is a proud milestone, with 80 graduates already part of the Camp Phoenix alumni network, and we’re excited to welcome a new group of campers in 2026.”

A free, immersive day camp for young women aged 14–18, Camp Phoenix offers participants a hands-on opportunity to learn directly from firefighters while developing leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Campers take part in a variety of activities that simulate real firefighting experiences, giving them a firsthand look at the profession while building confidence and connections with mentors in the field.

The impact of Camp Phoenix is already being seen in the fire service. One program alumna, Alicia G, who attended the inaugural camp in 2022, was hired by Milton Fire last year. Alicia returned to Camp Phoenix in the years following her first experience—serving as a Leader in Training (Platoon Captain) in 2023, co-emceeing the camp in 2024 alongside fellow alumna Bethany R, and most recently supporting the program as an Assistant Instructor in 2025.

With applications now open, organizers hope to welcome the next group of participants and reach an exciting milestone of 100 Camp Phoenix graduates by 2026. This year’s camp will take place Wednesday, July 22 to Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the Cainsville Fire Station.

Interested campers are encouraged to attend one of our information nights to learn more about the program. Join us at the Cainsville Fire Station (17 Ewart Ave) for a station tour, formal presentation, and Q&A. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.

Two dates are available to choose from:

📅 Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm

Applications for Camp Phoenix will close on Friday, May 8, 2026.

Today we celebrate the strength, resilience, and leadership of the incredible women and girls who make Camp Phoenix what it is. From our dedicated instructors who mentor and inspire, to the courageous campers who show up ready to learn, grow, and support one another; this community exists because of you.

This year is especially meaningful as we celebrate five years of Camp Phoenix. For five years, we’ve watched young women step into their confidence, discover their strength, and lift each other up. We are so proud of every camper who has been part of this journey and every instructor who has helped guide the way.

Day Two was a camper favourite!

A massive shoutout to A-1 Auto Recyclers for generously donating vehicles for our auto extrication training — giving our campers real, hands-on experience they’ll never forget.

Thank you to for donating your time and equipment to transport those vehicles to and from camp — we couldn’t have done it without you!

And a special thanks to Dustin from Code 4 Fire and Rescue for bringing the knowledge, passion, and skill to show our campers how to safely and efficiently cut up cars like true professionals.

These incredible contributions helped make Camp Phoenix a confidence-building experience. ❤️‍🔥👩‍🚒

Just when you thought we were done talking about Day Two!

Thanks to generous donation of ropes and equipment, the girls had the chance to challenge themselves in a whole new way.

Rope rescue training wasn’t just about technique — it was about facing fears, stepping out of comfort zones, and finding inner strength.

Your support gave them more than gear — you gave them the chance to discover their courage.

We’re so grateful to have you as part of their journey!

Day 2 of Camp Phoenix 2025 was jam packed with lots of fun evolutions!! 🔥

We start EVERY morning with a warmup/workout to get the campers ready for a full day of activity.

Throughout the day, the campers moved through different evolutions such as Forcible Entry, Auto X, Ropes and Aerial.

We can’t wait for another fun day tomorrow!

Because of their generous donation of bunker gear and helmets, our campers got to suit up and step into the boots of real firefighters. 🧑‍🚒
