This week is National AccessAbility Awareness Week β€” a reminder that accessible communities are stronger communities. πŸ’™

Accessibility means more than ramps and elevators. It means removing barriers so that every person β€” regardless of ability β€” can fully participate in their community.

At Willowbridge, we're committed to building services and spaced that meet people where they are. Because everyone deserves access to support.

Introducing Connect Adventure Camp β€” a brand-new summer camp experience for children 6 and older with autism or a developmental disability, held right here in Brantford.

🌱 Play Pals (ages 6–9) β€” June 29 to July 3 | Half-day | $250/camper
🀝 Connect Crew (ages 9–12) β€” July 13 to July 17 | Full day | $500/camper
⭐ The Social Circle (ages 13+) β€” August 3 to August 7 | Full day | $500/camper

Camp costs are subsidized thanks to available funding. Spaces are limited to a maximum of 8 campers per group to keep things supportive and low-stimulation.

Happy Pride Month! 🌈

At Willowbridge, we believe everyone deserves to feel seen, supported and celebrated β€” exactly as they are.

This June, we honour the resilience, joy and strength of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Pride is more than a month β€” it's a reminder that belonging matters, and that inclusive spaces save lives.

We are proud to be a space where all people are welcomed and supported. πŸ’™

P.S. We're thrilled to join Brantford Pride's Pride in the Park event on June 20. Be sure to stop by our booth if you'll be attending!

πŸ† We’re honoured to share that Willowbridge Community Services has received a 2025–26 Attorney General’s Victim Services Award of Distinction from the Government of Ontario.

This provincial award recognizes individuals and organizations working to support victims of crime and raise awareness of victims’ issues across Ontario.

Willowbridge was recognized for its leadership in preventing and responding to violence against people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), including our Healthy Relationships (HER) Project and Your Body, Your Rights: Building Safe Relationships initiative.

β€œThis award belongs to a much larger community. It reflects the courage of people with lived experience who helped shape this work, the commitment of our partners across Ontario, and a shared belief that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities deserve safer relationships, greater autonomy, and equitable access to support.”
β€” Devon Atherton, Director of Projects, Willowbridge Community Services

Thank you to the advisors, community partners, researchers, caregivers, service providers, and people with lived experience whose voices continue to guide this work every day.

Together, we are building safer, more inclusive communities where everyone has the right to healthy relationships, safety, and support. πŸ’™πŸ’š

Did you know you can support Willowbridge with an online donation? πŸ’›

When you give to Willowbridge, you're helping ensure that people in our community can access the counselling, developmental and respite services they need β€” when they need them most.

Every dollar goes directly toward supporting the programs and services that make a real difference in people's lives right here in Brantford.

If you're able to give, we'd be so grateful. Visit https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/37876 to make a gift.

Every number tells a story. πŸ’š

In 2024–2025, Willowbridge supported nearly 1,800 people in our community through counselling services.

Behind every one of those numbers is a person who made the brave decision to reach out β€” and a dedicated team ready to walk alongside them.

We're proud to be here for our community. And we're grateful for every person, partner and donor who makes this work possible.
