On behalf of the Unit, Happy Thanksgiving!

We're grateful for the individuals of the Canadian Armed Forces, First Responders, our Veterans and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

We're also grateful for our members, volunteers and supporters. Whose work often goes unnoticed, but without it, we could not continue. Thank you! ❀️

Remember as well, those who at this time of year find themselves without a traditional seat at the table. Many, including Veterans, face growing stigmatization and fall into isolation and homelessness.

Be kind to each other, and be thankful for your fellow man.

A statement from our President:

October 8th, 2026

Comrades,

Today marks two years since the devastating fire that destroyed our building and all our possessions.

While the past two years have presented significant challenges, our commitment to rebuilding and restoring what we lost remains unchanged.

We continue to actively pursue the steps necessary to move reconstruction forward, and we remain determined to see our Unit return to its rightful place in the Brantford community.

I wish to extend our sincere appreciation to the members, volunteers, supporters, and the community for their continued patience, encouragement, and support.

Our Unit remains strong, active, and committed to its future.

– Shoulder to Shoulder –

In Comradeship,

Logan Webb
President

On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour the children who never returned home, the survivors of residential schools, their families, and their communities.

As a veterans association, we also recognize and honour the generations of Indigenous veterans and serving members who have contributed to Canada’s military history and service.

We remember, we listen, and we continue the work of reconciliation.

September 11th 2001, is a day many in Canada and the United States will not forget.

24 Canadians died that day.

Canadians from coast, to coast, to coast, contributed to the humanitarian effort. Most notably, the Town of Gander, Newfoundland, with a population of only 10,000 residents, accepted over 6,000 airline passengers as planes were being redirected to land. All needing food, water and shelter.

The horrific events of that morning led to our eventual involvement in Afghanistan, where 40,000 Canadian Armed Forces members fought against the Taliban.

158 paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Including two sons from Brantford:

β€’ Captain Richard (Steve) Leary, 2nd Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. Killed in action on June 3, 2008, at the age of 32.

β€’ Trooper Larry Zuidema Rudd, Royal Canadian Dragoons. Killed in action on May 24, 2010, at the age of 26.

Canada and the US have stood united in our common values and beliefs for generations. May we continue to work together, to ensure the prosperity of our people and liberty loving people across the world.

Elizabeth II reigned for 70 years as Queen of Canada.

Many citizens had the privilege of meeting her and being awarded honours in her name.

Notably, she visited Brantford during 1984 and again in 1997. Where she attended local events: The Mohawk Chapel and Bell Homestead, National Historic Site designation ceremonies.

As a World War Two veteran, Elizabeth the Second, Queen of Canada, knew about service and sacrifice. Through her legacy, we stand stronger.

Yesterday, when attending the property for summer maintenance & sign installation, our Vice President, Geph Mitchell, located a lost piece of war memorabilia.

Among the cracks in the ground, left by the fire collapsed building, it is badly burnt and now weathered, but you can still read it:

2ND - 10TH DRAGOONS / PRO REGE ET IMPERIO ("For King and Empire").

It's moments like this, that remind us why we work everyday to see the Unit rebuilt.
