Yesterday the Green Team was at the 4th annual stedmanhospice Teddy Bear Picnic! We are very grateful they invited us back to implement waste diversion at the event. We had a great day 😊🧸

Here is what we diverted:
♻️ 2 bags of mixed recycling
📦 ½ bag of paper
🌱 ½ bag of organics
🗑️ Just ½ bag of garbage

That’s roughly 86% of the event’s waste diverted from landfill 🙌

Thank you to Stedman Community Hospice for four years of teddy bear picnics and to every family who took a moment to sort their waste.

Another year at the Lansdowne Heroes Walk and Roll ! 🦸

Check out these diversion numbers:

That’s 9 out of 10 bags diverted away from the landfill! 🙌

We love when organizers go that extra mile to work with us, and it really shows. Compostable cutlery, plates, and cups made a HUGE difference at our waste stations today. When there’s food at an event, being able to put our compost bins to work is what waste diversion is all about.

A major shout out to Devlin’s Country Bistro for such a great lunch! 🥪 And thank you to this wonderful community for sorting right alongside us.

Overall, this was a major success for the Green Team and a huge kudos to the Lansdowne Walk & Roll organizers. We hope everybody had a blast today!

What a beautiful day yesterday at Brantford Beats & Eats! 🎉

Here’s what we divert from the landfill:
📄 6 bags of paper
♻️ 8 bags of mixed recycling
🌱 5 bags of organics
🗑️ 2 bags of garbage

That’s 19 out of 21 bags kept out of the landfill, incredible work by everyone who stopped by our waste stations!

Hey Waste Champions, our season isn’t over yet ♻️☀️ Join us tomorrow Sept 12 for the rescheduled Beats and Eats festival with the City of Brantford! Green Team Brantford was honoured to be part of the 70th Annual Soap Box Derby this Labour Day hosted by the Brantford & District Labour Council on Elgin St! 🏎️💨

We are pleased to partner with the City of Brantford to bring you Movies in the Park this summer. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a movie under the stars in one of Brantford's beautiful parks at dusk.

Are you registered for the Amazing Race?! 🏃‍♀️💪🏼

Why Not City Missions Amazing Race is all about fun, teamwork, and giving back. Think obstacle courses, physical and mental challenges, and teams of 5-10 racing to the finish, all in support of Brantford’s youth through programs like Supportive Housing for Young Parents, Charlie’s Place, and the Why Not Youth Centre.

That’s a wrap on Brantford FireFit Championships 2026! 🏁🚒

Two incredible days at Mohawk Park in the books, and we’re so grateful we got to be part of it. Watching these athletes push through that course all weekend was a serious reminder of just how much firefighters give to keep our communities safe.

Here is a pic of day 2, and you can see our day 1 pic posted yesterday!

Here’s how the waste diversion broke down:

Day 1 we diverted 86%
♻️ 13 recycling
🍂 6 organics
📦 3 paper/cardboard
🗑️ 3.5 garbage

Day 2 we diverted 90%
♻️ 18 recycling
🍂 12 organics
📦 6 paper/cardboard
🗑️ 4 garbage

Weekend total: 88.5% diversion 🙌

For reference, events are considered “zero waste” once they hit 90% diversion with an official third party audit. We’re not that auditor, but landing right around that number this weekend is a huge win for Green Team.

Thank you brantfordfirefighters and FireFit Championships for having us out and building waste diversion into this event. You’re the real champions this weekend both on and off the course. We also really appreciate all the firefit teams & vendor markets for being so kind in working with us as well.
