The final stage of the building renovations is well underway. We covered the layout with the previously uses plastic leaving the walls exposed this time for drywall repairs, mudding, priming and finally painting. The new drywall extensions for the second deck are installed and the damaged or aging joints have been cleaned out and ready for our professional drywall to work his magic. Since there wasn't much to do other than some clean up, we did a rolling stock count to see where we were short and pull new pieces before our next train show in Ancaster Nov 15th and did a massive clean and organize in the shed. So it has been a very productive few weeks. Follow us for more updates. Some cool thing coming.

This weekend we held our Annual General Meeting or AGM. This meeting is a very important part of our active club that allows all members the opportunity to voice ideas, projects, changes, etc. It helps having the garden guage railroad in the backyard for some viewing pleasure. We're very excited for all the ideas and great things in the works in the year ahead. It's truly is a pleasure being a member of the group, sharing our model railroad passion together and moving the hobby forward.

It feels so good to us workers to see the layout again! Productive evening removing all the protective sheeting and supports and pleased to say it did its job. Minimal debris on the layout but we still vacuumed the whole layout and swept the floor. Did our laundry too, folding the plastic sheeting as we will need it again next week to reinstall where the drywall repairs will be done. That project will commence mid month which will lead us to priming those areas and then the painting begins. Lots still to do but we are making great progress. Stay tuned for more progress.

It took 2 months or 8 friday sessions but we are so excited to share that the new ceiling tiles, insulation and pot lights are now complete. The last tile went it around 7:30pm and it was sort of like a last spike moment with photos and a small celebration. What a difference in the look, brightness and for sure will pay for itself with heat and air conditioning hydro savings. We didn't celebrate for long as we are now moving onto the next step. We will remove the plastic protecting the layout. It looks like it worked keeping 95% of the mess off the layout. Then putting plastic up where we will be having some drywall repairs done, priming and a fresh coat of a new sky blue paint. Stay tuned for more updates.

It's been a few weeks since our last update, but don't worry, we've been busy working away at the ceiling tiles, insulation and pot lights. It's nice to say that we have half the building done and what a different. The lighting is bright and all the pot lights are set for 3500K for a warm sunshine glow that will make the colours pop and bring more life to the layout. The bright new ceiling tiles and tbar are clean and are already taking the echo out of the building and I know the R22 insulation will improve our A/C and heating bills. Its so nice seeing the inside starting to look as good as the outside. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue with the ceiling then on to the next stage of the inside renovations.

Last week the remaining t-bar got painted which means we are now onto the ceiling tiles, insulation and new lighting portion of the renovations. 3 skids of materials we ordered arrived Friday and was a task to get it all in the shed and building, still leaving us room to move around. The first few tiles have been installed, with insulation above and 3 lights located above the layout are operational. Its already lighting the layout so much better with more natural light. It going to be a lengthy project but I think will show the best results with a brighter, cleaner look when its all done. Stay tuned for more progress.

Today we are at the Ancaster train show with lots of great deals. It looks like another packed house full of all scales and train related items. Starts at 9:30 to 2:30. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
