Piper is looking for a special human to love. She has NOT been surrendered to us, but we are trying to help the owners find the perfect home for her.
🐾 Looking for the right home for a very special girl 🐾
This beautiful Rottweiler mix is an incredibly intelligent, loving dog who is looking for a home that can give her the structure, stimulation, and one-on-one attention she truly thrives on.
She is amazing with her people and absolutely loves being around them. She learns incredibly quickly, loves having a job to do, enjoys hanging out with her humans, and will happily shower you with an endless supply of kisses. ❤️ She is the kind of dog who wants to be involved and have a purpose.
That being said, she does have some behavioural considerations that her future human needs to understand and be prepared to manage.
She has resource-guarding tendencies and a very high prey drive. She has never bitten a person, but she's extremely animal aggressive especially with cats and small animals. Most recently she had an unexpected altercation with another dog in the home that she had previously lived peacefully with.
Because of this history, she is looking for:
🐾 A home with no other animals
🐾 No children under 13. An adult only home would be best, but older children may be considered only if they are mature, understand dog body language, and can reliably respect her space around food, treats, toys, etc.
🐾 An experienced owner who is comfortable managing a strong, intelligent dog and taking her behavioural needs seriously. She is not the right dog for a first time dog owner.
🐾 A home where she can have structure, enrichment, training, and a “job” to do.
🐾A home with a fenced yard (in the country) would be a bonus.
One of the biggest challenges in her current environment is that it is simply too overwhelming for her — there are multiple children and dogs, with people constantly coming and going. She seems to thrive much more when she can have structure, consistency, and focused attention from her people.
She can be absolutely wonderful the vast majority of the time. ❤️ However, her previous incidents have been difficult to predict, which is why finding the right environment is so important. This is not a dog who should be placed casually or simply because someone thinks they can “give her a chance.”
She deserves a home that will see how incredibly special she is while also respecting her boundaries and taking her history seriously.
With the right person, in the right environment, she will be an exceptionally loyal, loving companion. willing to learn, work and please.
Piper is not spayed and is not up to date on her vaccines. This is something that her adopter should plan on doing for her A.S.A.P.
