MMIWG Awareness Walk – May 5th 2026

Brandon Indigenous Cultural Celebrations is working alongside Brandon Pride this year to honor and remember our Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit relatives.

As we prepare for this walk, we are asking families to help us carry your loved ones with us.

We are creating a community banner that will be carried during the walk, and we would be honored to include:
• Names of your loved ones
• Photos for signs and posters
• Consent to share their photos during the walk

Please send submissions to:
📧 [email protected]

Brandon Pride will also be honoring MMIW relatives with a display at the Brandon Library, and they are inviting families to share:
• Photos
• Missing person reports
• Optional short write-ups about your loved one

Submissions can be sent to:
📧 [email protected]

This is about remembrance.
This is about visibility.
This is about walking together so our loved ones are never forgotten. ❤️

More details about the walk coming soon.

We are proud to host a flag raising ceremony to recognise Two Spirit and Indigenous LGBTQIA+ Celebration and Awareness Day on March 20th in front of Brandon City Hall, starting at 10:00AM, during the Spring Equinox.

Two Spirit and Indigenous LGBTQIA+ Celebration and Awareness Day is an opportunity to honour the strength, resilience, and contributions of Two Spirit and Indigenous LGBTQIA+ individuals within our community in Brandon and beyond. This will be the third time the 2 Spirit flag has been flown at City Hall and this event formally acknowledged in the city of Brandon.

Community members, leaders, and allies are all invited to attend and show their support. The ceremony will begin with a smudge, words from community advocates, a proclamation signing, and the flag raising with the 2 Spirit flag design by artist Patrick Hunter.
