On May 14th, join Assiniboine College and the Brandon Urban Aboriginal Peoples' Council for the Moose Hide Campaign Day Community Walk. The Moose Hide Campaign is an Indigenous-led grassroots movement that brings together men, boys, and all Canadians in a shared commitment to ending violence against women, children, and all those along the gender continuum.

Together, we will raise awareness, support reconciliation, and take meaningful steps toward creating communities rooted in respect, safety, and inclusion.

The walk begins at 1:30 p.m. in Princess Park and will be followed by a community BBQ. You can pick up your moose hide pin in the Cultural Centre (room 430A) at the Victoria Ave East Campus, or at the ACSA office in Crossroads.

There are moments when a community comes together not only in grief, but in strength, love, prayer, and healing — and this year’s MMIWG Walk was one of those moments. ❤️‍🩹

Brandon Indigenous Cultural Celebrations is incredibly honoured to have hosted the walk for the 4th year in a row. Year after year, we continue to witness our community stand together to honour our Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit relatives. Every step taken, every song sung, every drumbeat, every prayer, and every tear shared reminds us that our people are still fighting for justice, remembrance, and change. ❤️✊🏽

To all the families, walkers, supporters, elders, youth, and community members who joined us — thank you. Your presence mattered. Your support mattered. 🪶

A heartfelt thank you to the Men and Women who carried the drums and songs throughout the walk. Your voices were powerful, emotional, and filled with strength. Thank you to the young jingle dress dancers who brought healing into the circle with every step they danced. The sound of their jingles carried prayers, love, and medicine for our people and community. ❤️🌿

We are also deeply thankful to Brandon Pride for walking alongside us and helping organize this year’s event. True healing and awareness happens when communities stand together in solidarity and support. ❤️‍🩹

Huge gratitude as well to BFC In A Good Way and BFC Youth Safe Lodge for donating food for the feast and helping care for our people in a good way. ❤️‍🩹

This walk was not just an event. It was a gathering of hearts. A gathering of voices. A gathering of people refusing to let our women and girls be forgotten. ❤️‍🩹

We leave this day carrying prayer, healing, love, and the responsibility to continue speaking up, educating, supporting one another, and creating safer futures for the next generations.

Today we walked together. 🪶
Today we prayed together. 🪶

Last night’s Round Dance was a beautiful reminder of why we do this work. As Brandon Indigenous Cultural Celebrations, we were honoured to host our 3rd Round Dance as a committee—a meaningful step for us, even though many of us have carried these gatherings long before we formally came together. To do it collectively, with shared responsibility and shared heart, meant everything.

We send our deepest thanks to Daniel, Emery, Darian and to all the singers and backup singers from Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta who came out and gifted their voices. You set the energy for the new year here in Brandon, Manitoba, filling the room with good energy, strength, and unity. Your songs lifted spirits and grounded us in who we are.

These events are organized with good intentions, hard work, and community connection — We thank each and every person who came to dance, visit, and share in that spirit. Thank you for coming with a good heart.

We are also incredibly proud to share that 2025 marked our first approved grant from the City of Brandon; support that helped us continue this work and reminded us that Indigenous culture belongs, thrives, and is valued here.

Also a special, heartfelt thank you to the women of our committee who held everything together. Your leadership, care, and dedication carried this gathering forward. This work is often unseen, but it is deeply felt.

We move forward with gratitude, purpose, and hope—continuing to create spaces rooted in culture, connection, and community. Thank you all for walking with us. 🤍

🪶National Indigenous Peoples Day Talent Show 🪶

What a beautiful evening of sharing, laughter, and pride!

Our Talent Show was a true celebration of culture, strength, and the gifts we carry as Indigenous people. ❤️💛🤍🖤

A huge thank you to every contestant who stepped up and brought their best to the stage — you all entertained, inspired, and made this night truly special!

Thank you to our three judges, who stepped in last minute and gave their time and energy to help us select our winners. We are so grateful for your support!

🌟 Congratulations to our winners:
🥇 1st Place: Shayla
🥈 2nd Place (tie): Myra and Wakinyan
🥉3rd Place : Diamond Ray

We had a tie for second place, and the committee was happy to award both winners a prize — because both brought so much talent and heart to the stage!

A special thank you to our amazing MC, Val, for guiding the evening and keeping the energy high from start to finish!

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who came out, participated, cheered, and celebrated with us. This is what community is all about — honoring who we are, lifting one another up, and creating moments that stay with us long after the day is done and gone.

🌅 Thank you, and we’ll see you next year!
