Last night, Career Connections Inc. proudly took part in Light It Up! For NDEAM™! 💜 Our building lit up purple while our team wore purple and blue to help shine a light on disability inclusive employment and recognize National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
Light It Up! brings communities across Canada together to celebrate the skills, talents, and contributions of people with disabilities and to keep conversations about inclusion in the workplace moving forward. For us, it is a reminder to keep seeing possibility in everyone and to continue building workplaces and communities where people are welcomed, valued, and included.
We are proud to add a little Brandon purple to a national movement! 💜💙

Tonight, Canada shines dark purple and dark blue for disability inclusive employment. 💜💙
Across the country, businesses, landmarks, municipalities, workplaces, and community spaces are taking part in Light It Up! For NDEAM.
Led nationally by ODEN, the Ontario Disability Employment Network, with support from CASE, the Canadian Association for Supported Employment, MentorAbility Canada, and Jobs Ability Canada, this one night event brings communities together around a shared message: people experiencing disability bring valuable skills, talents, perspectives, and contributions to Canadian workplaces.
Here in Manitoba, there is even more to celebrate. Our province currently has 110 confirmed participating locations across six communities, the highest provincial total on the national list.
Tonight is symbolic, but the message behind it is very real.
It is about recognizing talent.
It is about removing barriers to employment and career advancement.
It is about creating workplaces where people experiencing disability have opportunities to contribute, grow, and belong.
And it is about making disability inclusive employment visible across Canada. Career Connections Inc. and MentorAbility Manitoba are proud to stand alongside organizations across Manitoba and the country tonight.

Of course.... Thanksgiving lunch would not have been possible without our thoughtful "lunch ladies". A big thank you to the VDP team: Gloria, Rylee and Fatimah... The meals were prepared with love as you can see from the beautiful smiles and warms faces. Our ED, Rushana Davy had to sneak in for a pic with the superstars.

Today we had our Thanksgiving lunch prepared by our hard working VDP clients. They were busy making pies, biscuits, mash potatoes and deboning rotisserie chicken. Lunch was super delicious.

Yesterday we had Officer Denis from the Brandon Police Service visit Avis's Place new space and talked about "Safety". Our members and participants enjoyed the visit and had great takeaways.
