🌈🧡 June in Canada: A Month of Reflection, Celebration, and Learning 🧡🌈
June is an important time across Canada as we recognize both Pride Month and National Indigenous History Month.
Pride Month celebrates the diversity, strength, and resilience of the 2SLGBTQI+ community. In Canada, Pride is rooted in a history of advocacy for equal rights, inclusion, and dignity for all. While we celebrate how far we’ve come, we also acknowledge the ongoing work needed to ensure everyone can live safely and authentically.
National Indigenous History Month is a time to honour the cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the lasting impacts of colonization and to commit to meaningful learning and reconciliation. June 21st, National Indigenous Peoples Day, is a particularly significant time to celebrate Indigenous communities across the country.
Together, these observances highlight the importance of respect, understanding, and inclusion. This month and every month, let’s continue to listen, learn, and stand in solidarity as we work toward a more equitable and inclusive Canada.
