ster Bhagat Ram, a respected Member of Parliament of India and a dedicated member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)], passed away recently. His contributions to the political landscape of India, particularly through his affiliation with the CPI(M), reflected his commitment to advocating for workers' rights and social equality. Additionally, as a member of the Indo Canadian Workers Association, he played a significant role in fostering solidarity between Indian and Canadian working communities, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation among laborers. His passing marks a loss to both the political and labor movements, and his legacy will be remembered by those who shared his vision for a just and equitable society.

On March 23, 1931, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev were martyred by the British government for their unwavering fight for India's independence. Their sacrifice remains an enduring symbol of courage, patriotism, and resistance against colonial rule. Even today, their legacy continues to inspire generations to fight for justice, equality, and the nation's progress. This day, observed as Shaheed Diwas (Martyrs' Day), is a solemn reminder of their bravery and supreme sacrifice for the country. Indo Canadian Workers Association from last more than two decades has been celebrating theis day. But due to some out of control circumstances, we couldn't do this year. But hopefully we will continue that tradition from next year. Red Salute to the greatest martyrs of the last century.
