VELVET ROOTS - the lineup:
✨ Kindé is a UK-born, Calgary-based artist whose sound blends R&B, Afrobeats and Hip hop elements, rooted in gospel/soul influences. A two-time YYCMA nominee for Best R&B/Soul Recording of the Year and a two-time Canadian Black Screen Award recipient, she is carving out her own lane.
✨ Bkay Won (Bkay Won) is a Calgary-based singer, songwriter and rapper, now stepping onto the poetry stage for the second time. As a poet, Bkay brings fresh perspective, vulnerability, and heart to the podium and uses her words to explore love, change, growth, and everyday moments that connect us all.
✨ Dena G (ＤＥＮＡ Ｇ) is an R&B-pop singer-songwriter from Calgary, Alberta with proud Persian roots. She began posting covers on YouTube in 2018, which sparked her journey into official songwriting. Since then, she has continued to use music as an emotional outlet.
✨ Saint Heston (SAINT HESTON) is Alberta’s Tiny Desk hip-hop pilgrim. It’s live-band storytelling, somewhere in between Sunday service and a smoke break.
