WORKER WIN: Worker facing discrimination wins a $21,000 settlement!

A worker came to LCSP for support with a human rights matter after her employer failed to uphold their duty to accommodate. By supporting the worker through a long mediation process, LCSP staff helped the worker win a settlement significantly larger than what was originally offered.

If you need support filing claims or with mediation related to discrimination at work based on prohibited grounds (race, gender, disability, citizenship, religion, etc.), get in touch with LCSP at 905-451-0444 or [email protected].

WORKER WIN: Four drivers win back over $20,000 in stolen wages!

Four truck drivers came to LCSP over the last few months with similar stories of unpaid wages. Working together with our staff, we helped these drivers each file a Canada Labour Code Complaint for their stolen wages. We are happy to report back that together the four drivers have recovered $20,204.07 in wages owed to them.

If you need support with your case to fight for stolen wages, get in touch with LCSP at 905-451-0444 or [email protected]. We also know that this is an issue beyond any one case, and that’s why drivers are getting organized for systemic change with Justice For Truck Drivers.

WORKER WIN: Daljeet

Daljeet, a truck driver dealing with employer wage theft, came to LCSP for legal advice and support. Together, we worked to file a Canada Labour Code Complaint for their unpaid wages. We are pleased to share today that Daljeet reached a settlement and received $7,204.

Daljeet’s story is not unique, but a longstanding and troubling trend in trucking and across industries of employer exploitation and wage theft. If you’re like Daljeet, and need support with your case to fight for stolen wages, get in touch with LCSP at 905-451-0444 or [email protected].

We also know that this is an issue beyond any one individual or employer, and that’s why workers are getting organized to fight the exploitative laws that enable these injustices. If you’re a truck driver wanting to fight for better wages and working conditions, join the hundreds of drivers already organizing with Justice For Truck Drivers.

Long-haul truckers in Canada are pushing back after being stiffed for millions of dollars in unpaid wages as a CBC News investigation reveals a growing number of trucking companies are hiring drivers and then not paying them.

"In the last year, it's gone from like 6 months it takes to start a case to eight months, and now recently we're getting emails from the labor program saying it's 10 to 11 months." - Navi Aujla, Labour Community Services of Peel
