Our Summer 2026 issue features articles from the Ontario Woodlot Association’s counterpart organizations across the country, through our membership with Canadian Forest Owners (CFO). 🍁🌲

As a national federation, CFO advocates for approximately 480,000 private forest landowners, promoting sustainable forest management, biodiversity, and climate change action.

CFO members include families, businesses, and Indigenous groups who collectively manage about 25 million hectares of private land, accounting for close to 20% of Canada's forest production.

Our Chapter's Forest Fire Fundamentals for Woodlot Owners Workshop was a great success today, with excellent presentations, plenty of discussion, and delicious food, fun, and camaraderie. Thanks to all who helped to organize, especially local member Monika Strak!

Our May 16th Chapter event in Bracebridge is fast approaching. Please see the attached poster for all the details and information on how to register.

There has been a slight change to the agenda as follows:

In the absence of Ken Cox, we are thrilled that Sarah Allen, Provincial Coordinator of MNR's Aviation, Forest Fire, and Emergency Services Branch will be giving the "Wildland Fire Mitigation and Preparedness for Woodlot Owners" presentation. Sarah has two decades of experience in various roles with MNR, is a Type 1 Plans Chief, and over the past 12 years has worked on some of Ontario's most notable fires, as well as out-of-province deployments. Sarah holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Forestry as well as a Masters of Science in Forestry from Lakehead University. Looking forward to hearing her perspective!
