Every Wednesday and Friday, about 150 young people in Huntsville walk through the doors of The Door Youth Centre - Huntsville for a hot lunch.

The RAMP Flow-Through Fund, a fund through the Muskoka Community Foundation, donated $2,500 to support The Door’s lunch program to ensure youth have access to food throughout the week.

RAMP exists to support initiatives that help people break free from cycles of poverty, addressing the systemic barriers that make life harder than it needs to be. We're grateful to RAMP for their continued commitment to the young people of Muskoka, and to The Door for the impact they’re making in the lives of young people every week!

Let’s build up Muskoka youth!

This Friday, Mind-Aid Muskoka is partnering with Hunters Bay Radio for its Radiothon for Youth Mental Health. From 6 am to 6 pm, they’ll be raising funds for a new campaign that aims to build up Muskoka youth.

Our donors were early supporters of MiND-AID, and we’ve watched the organization grow over the past 5 years. MiND-AID now supports 500+ young people and parents/guardians every year, and they need community support to sustain this work,.

Tune into 88.7FM this Friday to listen to the impact MiND-AID is making for young people in our Muskoka communities. They will be accepting donations throughout the day, or you can make a donation anytime at https://www.mindaidmuskoka.com/donate

If you've been following us for a while, you may have noticed something.

One action can set off a chain reaction of good things in our communities. Donors create funds to help charities, and those charities provide much-needed services, and these services often lead to partnerships, and out of these partnerships come new opportunities to support our communities.

The DOC ROB Fund is one example. Three years ago, DOC ROB sponsored the first-ever Mental Health Symposium in Parry Sound, hosted by Sound Youth Counselling. This support included providing bursaries for high school students to attend the event.

This year, Mind-Aid Muskoka is joining the event as a presenting partner – and the DOC ROB Fund was there to help. The fund granted $5,000 to MiND-AID to sponsor the symposium, which will be held on Friday, April 24.

The Mental Health Symposium will be a day of learning and connection, as parents, professionals, teachers, and community members come together. We are grateful to the DOC ROB Fund for making ripples of impact with its support for the Mental Health Symposium.

🎟️ There's still time to get tickets for the Mental Health Symposium! Find out more at https://www.soundyouthcounselling.ca/symposium

Build something bigger with us.

Through the Muskoka Community Foundation, your financial contribution can make a lasting impact on your community. This is because our Foundation takes a long-term view by building endowments to ensure grants are always available to support community needs.

By making an endowed gift, the principal of your fund remains intact and generates ongoing support for the causes you care about.

The power might go out, but community support never will.

Winter hit hard last year, and the West Muskoka Food Bank felt it.

Two harsh winter storms – one bringing 8 feet of snow, and the other coating the area in ice – left the food bank without power for days. Food spoiled, causing a major setback for a food bank already trying to keep up with a growing demand for food assistance.

The West Muskoka Food Bank needed a generator, but as anyone who has dealt with generators knows, they are expensive.

Solving this problem became a community effort between multiple partners and donors. The Lowden Family Fund donated $10,000 toward the generator cost. The Feed Muskoka Fund, which supports food security initiatives across the region, contributed $5,000. The Township of Muskoka Lakes covered the installation costs because the food bank is located on township property.

Now, after a year of coordination and collaboration, we are excited to share that the West Muskoka Food Bank’s generator is connected and ready! No matter what Mother Nature brings, families will still have access to food when they need it.

This is the power of community!⚡️

When it comes to mental health, F**t Gym is lifting up our community! 🏋️

In December, F**T Gym and Personal Training in Huntsville hosted the second annual Sober Gala to raise funds for mental health and addiction programs. The organizers poured their hearts into making this a special event that helps people access the programs and services they need.

With the support of its attendees and sponsors, the gala raised $4,300 for Mind-Aid Muskoka, a local organization that assists young people with navigating the mental health system. This is the second year MiND-AID Muskoka has received a donation from the Sober Gala, and this continued funding strengthens the charity’s ability to serve youth in our Muskoka communities.

“We at MiND-AID are so grateful that the Sober Gala had again chose to support the work we are doing with young people in Muskoka, and also that the Gala itself is so inclusive and sensitive to the needs of our community.” – Jody North, Executive Director of MiND-AID Muskoka
