🚨🔥 HIGH FIRE RISK & HEAT WARNING 🔥🚨

With the current hot, dry, and windy conditions across much of Saskatchewan, fire danger remains EXTREME in many areas of the province. Our area is also experiencing a high heat warning, creating conditions where fires can start quickly and spread rapidly.

Please do your part to help keep our community safe:
• Avoid unnecessary open fires
• Never toss cigarette butts from vehicles
• Use caution with equipment that may create sparks
• Keep trailers/chains from dragging on roadways
• Ensure ATV’s and machinery are in good working order
• Report smoke or fire immediately by calling 911

Even a small spark in these conditions can lead to a fast-moving grass or brush fire.

As temperatures continue to climb, remember to also take care of yourselves and those around you:
☀️ Stay hydrated
☀️ Limit prolonged outdoor activity during peak heat
☀️ Check on elderly family, neighbours, and vulnerable community members
☀️ Never leave children or pets in vehicles

Borden Fire Rescue is asking everyone to stay alert, stay safe, and help reduce the risk of preventable fires during this period of extreme fire danger. 🚒

On May 14 at 03:44 Borden Fire and Rescue was requested for Mutual Aid for a structure fire in Radisson. 4 members responded with Engine 791S and Rescue 2 792. When we arrived we saw a house that was fully engulfed and another house to the north under threat. Radisson Fire Department & First Responders was battling hard and unfortunately with the high winds we were not able to safe the house to the north.
Langham Fire Department also arrived to help battle the blaze in high winds. All three fire departments worked well together and were able to extinguish the blaze without further damage.
Thank you to the folks who provided coffee and food after we were done battling the fire.
Langham and Borden departments were released and BFD was back in service at 06:25.

A huge shout out to Radisson and Langham fire departments for helping us get the hose back on the truck.

Today we want to recognize the incredible mothers within our department who balance family, careers, and serving their community with strength and compassion every single day. Your dedication does not go unnoticed.

We also want to thank the mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, and mother figures who raised us, supported us, worried about us when the pager goes off, and helped shape us into the people we are today.

Behind every firefighter is a support system that sacrifices right alongside them, and today we celebrate all of you.

We proceeded to the fire and found the fire slowly moving north. With hand tools and a leaf blower we fought fire for about 2.5 miles to the east to the river.

On May 2 at 11:11 Borden Fire and Rescue was toned out for a vegetation fire 5km west of Borden on Highway 16. The caller told dispatch that there was a person on a bike in the north ditch that was lighting a fire. We responded with 7 members, Utility 791S and Rescue 2 792S and Tanker 791S. Tanker stayed at the hall while the other two units went to investigate. We could not locate a fire, we drove past Radisson to be sure. We did locate a person on a bike who was in the north ditch and fixing his flat tire. After talking with this gentleman he informed us that he was cycling to Alaska! Safe travels sir! No fire was located anywhere. RCMP arrived on scene as well.

If you are calling into 911 please be sure what you are reporting is accurate. Stay on scene until first responders arrive on scene.
If you don’t you are wasting valuable resources that may be needed elsewhere.
Back in service at 11:53.
