This weekend was the annual KidSport Alberta Chapter Resource Conference in Canmore and committee members Dylan Gorrill and Brad Ollen were able to be in attendance. It was an event full of great conversations and learning from each other along with many engaging activities to help us build relationships with other chapters and provincial board members.

To top the weekend off, our chapter received two awards!

The Innovation in Action Award - which celebrates the chapter which showed creative approaches to fundraising or outreach in their community, for the Thermal Cup.

The Program Champion Award - which recognizes the chapter which consistently promoted the leading KidSport program “Every kid can play” in their community, for our work promoting this program established by the Alberta Government.

Good morning sports fans!

After a slight delay in getting all of the numbers together, we are finally able to announce that $5,966.29 was raised from the Navacord - Formerly Lloyd Sadd fundraising golf tournament in August. We are so thankful to their team for the support over the years of our mission So ALL Kids Can Play!

The Every Kid Can Play program has been an integral part of helping us strive towards an Alberta in which ALL kids have a chance to play, regardless of their financial situation.

The Government of Alberta have stepped up BIG once again, and we are thrilled to share that even MORE kids in Alberta will get a chance to participate in sport this year.

March 28th in Cold Lake - Mark your calendars for this huge fundraiser for our chapter!

You want to hear something cool?

Over the past two years, we’ve raised over $100,000 for KidSport Alberta chapters in our region! Isn’t that awesome?

In 2024, Thermal Cup raised $33,000. That year, KidSport Bonnyville funded 98 kids for just under that amount. In 2025, we hit the ice and raised $65,000. So far this year, the Bonnyville chapter of KidSport has funded 106 kids at just under $40,000.
Help us score a hat trick of record breaking fundraising in 2026! We’ve got a goal in mind, but we’re superstitious (just like all hockey players), so we’re not going to let that puck out of the glove just yet.

You can help!

Come to the tournament and buy a game day ticket for $20 and come cheer on the eight teams taking part, grab a raffle ticket for $20, or buy some Thermal Cup merch. All proceeds go to KidSport.

In December, Boston Pizza Bonnyville held a Kid’s Card Fundraiser with a portion of the sales going to KidSport Bonnyville to help get kids off the sidelines and into recreational activities. Through the generosity of their patrons and team they raised $1,250.00!

In 2024, KidSport Bonnyville funded 30 kids into local hockey programs. The Hockey Assist Program has been an overwhelming success and will continue into the 2025-26 hockey season!

The KidSport Oil Country Hockey Assist Program is BACK!
