UROC Trail Report September 4th:

We know that summer isn’t technically over for a couple weeks, but September long weekend in Crowsnest usually marks the shift into all time fall time conditions. There have been some rain events over the last week that have revitalized the trails back into the hero dirt we know and love. Although Saturday looks pretty damp, the rest of the weekend looks a little better.

It is one week until we kick off our 4th annual Bee’s Knees Enduro. All of us at UROC are getting very excited to see a lot of new and familiar faces back between the tape for another great weekend of racing.

Our trail crew has shrunk in size, but not enthusiasm as some of our members have headed off to school for the fall. A big thanks to Brody and Ainsley for all their hard work this season. This week our crew finished up some of the summers projects and then moved onto trail prep for next week’s race. Braking bumps are getting filled, berms and jumps are getting tuned up, and trail treads are being buffed.

We have a couple more volunteer spots for next weekend. If you can lend a hand, we will feed you, give you high fives and you might go home with a prize. Here is the sign up list:

This is still going to be a great weekend on the trails despite the wet patches. Get out and ride!

UROC Trail Report - How is it the end of August already? We’ve seen an increase of riders to our valley; especially to the new trails at PPK. It’s awesome to have great trails for all skill levels and welcome folks to the Pass.

The trail crew smoothed out the Spare Change rock slab ride around and sections of Blackbird. Whistle Post received some attention as well. This week we closed up official trail crew duties with a ride and bbq send off. We couldn’t have incredible trails without these stellar folks.

Have you been to see the Monkey lately? It received a makeover after the previous repairs surpassed weather testing. Head on up for a new selfie and high five!

Tonight is our final Friday Night Race. SRAM will be on site with swag and good times. This is also your chance to race for glory and the Golden Luge!

Volunteers are coming in strong for our Bee’s Knees Enduro on Sept 12-13. Sunday needs more fine folks to help run the event. We will feed and water you! Sign up at the link in our bio.

It’s going to be another great weekend of riding in the Crowsnest Pass. Pass Powderkeg Lodge is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. No matter where in the valley you ride, stop by the lodge for at an ice cold bevy and the best view around. Tell your friends.

With our Bee’s Knees Enduro only a couple short weeks away, our event is looking for one more stage sponsor for the Sunday Full Course event.

Stage Sponsorship is $1000, and for that price you will have your logo printed on the stage start sign, which will be seen by over 200 racers, your logo on our Bee’s Knees event website, your logo included in our promotional wrap up event video and race recap which is features on Pinkbike.com (the most widely viewed MTB website). You will also receive a UROC social media post leading up to the event, recognition at the awards ceremony as well as the opportunity to hang a banner at the event.

Money raised through our stage sponsorship program goes towards event prizing and back into trail construction. If this is something you or your business is interested in please email UROC at [email protected]

With racers coming from all over southern Alberta and eastern BC, it is a great opportunity to get your business seen in the mountain bike community.

UROC Trail Report August 21st:

Another great week has rolled by in Crowsnest and we are inching closer to our 4th Annual Bee’s Knees Enduro on September 12-13th. A successful event is only as good a the group who puts it on, and we have been very fortunate over the last couple of years to have an outstanding volunteer base within our UROC membership.

Here is the link to our volunteer sign up for the event: https://volunteersignup.org/EDRAL

There are lots of great positions and anyone who is able to lend a hand is greatly appreciated. As a volunteer we will give you a complimentary meal, beverage, and we usually have some great volunteer prizes or swag. UROC is a community organization built on and by volunteers. We hope that you will come out and be part of the fun at another great event.

In other trail news, our trail crew contributes to tackle the growing vegetation on the trails and repair trail tread as needed. Because of our crew, the trails are in great shape, despite the lack of rain. They also repaired a broken toe on our beloved Electric Monkey statue this week. Their job has a wide scope of duties!

We might end up with a could rain showers over the weekend, but nothing significant enough to keep people off the trails. No events that affect our trail network. Just a great time to soak in those last summer days.

Happy Trails!

Great way to finish our Friday Night Race Series on August 28th!

UROC Trail Report August 14th:

The rains have come and gone and this will give our trails a huge reset back to some great hero dirt and spring like conditions, at least for a couple of days. We are hopeful that this big system of wet weather provided some relief to our neighbouring communities dealing with wildfires.

It is race day for anyone planning on competing in our Friday Night Race Series at Pass Powderkeg. The trails will be so good after soaking up this moisture, and although the temps are not going to be super high today, conditions couldn’t be better. Tonights track is a run down the newly constructed Tail Mix, which is also going to be featured in our upcoming Bee’s Knees Enduro. Registration starts at 6pm. $10 gets you an entry and a beverage post race. We have some great prizing to give away and you don’t have to be the fastest to go home with some swag. All racers must be on course by 7:15pm so we can get this wrapped up by 8pm. After everyone being stuck inside for a couple of days, we are hoping for a great turnout.

This week our trail crew dealt with heavy smoke early in the week, then the opposite with extremely wet conditions at the end of the week. They have been fighting back the vegetation on Knotty Flo, Jiffy Pop and Double Dirt to keep those climb trails clear. The crew went up to Big Bear to make some repairs after the last couple of events rolled through, and they were out exploring some re-routes to modernize some legacy trails in York Creek. Our Trail Crew was also able to locate a small fire that had started below Double Dirt and with the help of the Municipal Fire Department, they were able to put it out. Not sure on the cause of the fire, but luckily they were able to control it before it became a big problem.

The temps will be warming up for Saturday and Sunday and it will be an excellent weekend to be out on the trails. The lodge is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The smoke should be dissipated for now, so if you haven’t ridded in a while, this will be a great weekend to come out.

Happy Trails.
