What is the Nature Learning Play Space?

The Nature Learning Play Space will bring our children back to the original roots of play, beginning with the outdoors. It will include all-natural materials such as; stumps, logs, bushes, trees, boulders, etc. Children are born with an innate ability to learn through play in environments that they are able to manipulate & explore & this space will encourage just that. It will also encourage the risky play, natural exploration and learning that many of us remember from our childhoods. It will also help our local children experience learning across the 5 domains of development (Social, Physical, Intellectual, Creative, & Emotional).

In November 2017, Meagan Morency decided she was going to create a all natural outdoor play space & classroom for children aged 0 to 6. Beth Pounder & the Crowsnest Pass & Area Early Childhood Development Coalition immediately jumped on board to help get this project off its feet.

Meagan & Beth started the initial planning process and a hand full of meetings later the plan was set in stone for this space to start construction. After approval from the Municipality of the Crowsnest Pass, they began designing there outdoor dream play space.

Support started pouring in from local businesses, individuals & organizations wanting to donate money and volunteer efforts. Not soon after the space was selected as one of the major projects of the Ed McGregor Annual Stewardship Day on Saturday, June 2nd. 30 Volunteers helped kick start start the project & major progress was made!
