Today is International Day of the Girl Child.

Canada proposed the resolution that the United Nations General Assembly adopted in 2011 to establish a day promoting girls’ empowerment and human rights and raising awareness of gender inequalities, including unequal access to education, nutrition and medical care.

When governments, organizations and community leaders listen and work together to remove barriers, more girls can participate, lead, and shape their futures.

Let’s keep creating opportunities for girls to thrive.

We’re grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Government of Ontario for their investment in CLASS and the people and communities we serve.

Through a $106,700 Capital Grant, CLASS will modernize our Snoezelen Sensory & Wellness Room, creating a more accessible, welcoming and supportive space for youth and adults with developmental disabilities.

This investment will help create an environment where people can regulate, recharge and feel comfortable — supporting greater participation, connection and a stronger sense of belonging.

Thank you for helping CLASS continue to create inclusive spaces where people have opportunities to participate, connect and thrive in their community.

We look forward to sharing the transformation with you!

Today, on Sisters in Spirit Day, we honour missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people and stand with families, survivors, and communities across Canada.

As vigils take place across the country, we remember every life stolen, every family still searching for answers, and the urgent responsibility to end this violence.

The meaning of a word is shaped not only by its definition, but also by its connection to lived experiences.

As we near the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we’re sharing the definitions of common words as they relate to the experiences of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples in the Residential School system.

Today’s word is reconciliation: an ongoing process based on the principles of mutual respect, honesty and goodwill.

Intervenor Services help people who have a combined loss of both hearing and vision. People are either born deafblind or acquire the loss of hearing and vision later in life.

An intervenor is a trained professional who helps deafblind people communicate using expressive and receptive language.
