A new milestone for Search and Rescue in Canada.

On January 8, 2026, the Royal Canadian Air Force’s CC-295 Kingfisher officially assumed fixed-wing search and rescue posture at 14 Wing Greenwood, marking a major step forward in modernizing Canada’s SAR capability.

That same day also marked the conclusion of CC-130H Hercules SAR operations at Greenwood after decades of dedicated service, signalling both progress and the beginning of a historic transition.
