Open Doorways Orphanage Open Doorways Orphanage was established as a registered charity in 2007. Board members visit the orphanage with volunteers at least once a year.

It is located in the community of Deschapelles (two-hour drive north of Port-au-Prince). After years of fundraising and generous support, on November 15th, 2011 Open Doorways Orphanage proudly opened its doors and is now home to 15 children. The children attend a school next door to the orphanage and also receive tutoring after school to assist them with their homework and studies. Throughout 2013

we welcomed 5 new children and also completed the renovations of a vacant building on the property that will be used as a studies/activities room for the children and guest house for visitors. The volunteer Board of Directors is comprised of 10 Manitoban’s with diverse backgrounds. We meet regularly to discuss matters of finance, fundraising, operations of the home and particular children’s issues. Recently Open Doorways established an Education Fund as part of our long term plans to ensure our children’s future success. It is our dream that our children are not only able to provide themselves with a means of income, but to also positively impact the future of Haiti.
