Every summer is made up of moments like this.

Laughter on the grass. Friends cheering each other on. A sunny afternoon that becomes a memory campers carry home with them.

Camp Huron has been full of moments like these for 80 summers, shaped by generations of campers, staff, families, parishes, alumni, donors, and friends.

As we look toward the summers still to come, gifts to Camp Huron help care for this place, prepare for future programs, and support the year-round work that makes camp possible.

This is how Camp Huron is carried forward.

What happens when local passion for child and youth ministry is backed by national support?

In this new Journal feature, local leaders share how AFC's Say Yes! to Kids campaign has helped them raise more than funds. It has built confidence, broadened community support, and given congregations new ways to tell the story of why investing in young people matters.

AFC is grateful to the Anglican Journal for sharing the stories behind this growing national movement.

Camp Huron is grateful to be featured in today’s Anglican Journal story about the national Say Yes! to Kids campaign.

This year, our Camp Huron community raised over $42,000 to help more children and youth experience camp. That remarkable result was part of a wider national effort supporting child and youth ministry across the The Anglican Church of Canada.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who gave, shared, encouraged, prayed, promoted the campaign, and helped make this possible.

Thank you for saying yes to kids.

Thank you for saying yes to Camp Huron.

A special thank you to the Camp Huron staff who helped share our 80th summer as it was happening.

Throughout the season, they ran our TikTok account, captured moments from camp, and created our Weekly Summer Photo Albums so families, alumni, supporters, and friends could follow along from home.

They captured beach days, campfires, chapel, programs, cabin life, laughter, friendship, and the everyday moments that make Camp Huron feel like Camp Huron.

We're grateful for the time, care, and creativity they brought to helping our wider community experience the joy and energy of camp this summer.

You can still look back through our weekly summer albums to relive a few moments from Camp Huron’s 80th summer.

When the summer season ends, a different kind of work begins.

Camp Huron may be quieter in September, but it is not dormant. This is the season of reviewing, repairing, planning, preparing, and caring for the place that has welcomed campers for generations.

The work is quieter now, but it matters.

It matters because Camp Huron is more than what happens in July and August. It is cabins, pathways, trees, campfires, chapel, friendships, faith, and memories carried home summer after summer.

For 80 summers, this place has been cared for by a community that believes in what camp makes possible.

That care continues now.

We’re exploring a five-day day camp for children ages 6–12, with outdoor exploration, nature-based learning, games, and Camp Huron-style programming.

As part of our feasibility study, we’d really value your feedback.

The last bags have been packed. The circle is quiet. The final campfire has burned low. But the songs, laughter, prayers, friendships, and quiet little moments of this summer will stay with us forever.

To every camper, family, staff member, volunteer, parish, supporter, and friend who helped make this summer possible: thank you.

For 80 summers, Camp Huron has been shaped by the people who have come here, loved this place, and carried its memories home with them. This summer now becomes part of that story.

And while the cabins may be quiet for now, our connection to Camp Huron does not end when summer does.

In the weeks ahead, we’ll be sharing more memories from our 80th summer, looking back through the history of camp, and continuing to celebrate the people and community who make this place what it is.

For now, we are simply grateful.

Thank you for being part of Camp Huron.

Every summer becomes part of the story.

This official Camp Huron staff photo from 1996 is a reminder that the friendships, faith, laughter, and memories made at camp have been shaping generations for decades.

As we look back on 80 summers, we are grateful for everyone who has been part of this place as a camper, staff member, family member, parish supporter, or friend.

Do you recognize anyone in this photo? Were you part of Camp Huron in 1996?

If this brings back a memory, we’d love to hear it in the comments.
