St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation

Our very active registered charity has been raising funds in support of the equipment needs of the St Francis Memorial Hospital since 2001. Recently, the Foundation has enhanced its scope to include fundraising for all of the non profit healthcare organizations, including the MV Hospice Palliative Care program and the Valley Manor Nursing Home. Our goal is to create an opportunity for the donors o

f the Madawaska Valley and area to advance healthcare by ensuring support for equipment and facility needs through the efforts of one fundraising organization. The SFVH Foundation will work in partnership with the three organizations to inclusively fundraise based on long term plans for the healthcare needs of the community. The Foundation is closely connected with our community and receives strong support from individuals and organizations throughout our healthcare catchment area.

With the support of Madawaska Valley Hospice Palliative Care, Darryl Stoppa had been caring for his wife Jeanette at home throughout her illness.

As her needs became more complex, hospice provided comfort not only for Jeanette, but for those caring for her as well - allowing Darryl to step away from the role of caregiver and simply spend meaningful time with his wife during her final days.

“When Jeanette came to hospice, we were welcomed with open arms,” said Darryl. “The staff and volunteers made a very difficult time feel comforting and supportive.”

Did you know that funds raised from the upcoming butterfly release will go toward hospice palliative care services in the community?

The Rotary Club of Eganville (Barry’s Bay Satellite group) has donated $1,000 to sponsor the Friends of St. Francis Charity Golf Tournament, organized by the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation.

This year, the tournament is raising funds for a new X-Ray Unit for St. Francis Memorial Hospital. With about 7,500 exams each year, a new system will improve reliability, enhance patient safety and comfort, and support faster, more accurate diagnoses for our community.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available, visit the Foundation’s website at www.sfvhfoundation.com for more details.

The Rotary Club is hoping to gain more members for its Barry’s Bay satellite group. Rotarians’ mission “Service Above Self.” They raise funds through a variety of ways including Bingo in Pembroke and other fundraisers throughout the year. They meet every first and third Thursday of the month at noon at the Belge Bistro in Barry’s Bay. Anyone interested in learning more about the club is invited to attend.
