The photo here is the front page of the Barrie Legion Branch 147 monthly newsletter for October 2026. It is Edition 4 Issue 8 for this year. That means that it has been out there for the Barrie Legion members and guests to pick up a copy for the past four years now.

It all came about because Barrie Legion member, Christian Cadera agreed to take on the responsibility of editing and printing monthly copies so that we had another way to communicate about our Branch 147 events and activities beyond social media and direct to our members via e-mail.

The Bugle can be found at the Barrie Legion bar and generally available in the first week of each new month. Christian receives no pay for being the editor and the printer.

It's been long overdue! But if you will, the next time you see Christian whether at the Legion or via this post, let him know what a great job he is doing! And don't forget to check out the advertisements for those who help cover our expenses for this communication! Christian's father, Karl has been the main driver getting this to happen!

Thanks to all who contribute in getting "The Bugle" into your hands!

Week 3 in the Barrie Catch the Ace Lottery and our Weekly Winner Elaine Fockler from Haliburton takes home $3,918! Her selection of Envelope 26 revealed the King of Clubs - not the Ace of Spades which would have paid out another $43,274.50.

So the Ace of Spades remains hidden for our Thursday, Week 4 Draw when we predict finding the Ace of Spades on Oct. 15 could pay out around $55K!

Tickets available on line at barriecatchtheace.ca through the week until 3pm the day of the Draw. Or you can purchase a ticket at the Barrie Legion through the week.

Thanks for all your Support!

Attention Barrie Legion Friends and Followers,

Don't miss this unique concert showcase of songs inspired by those who served and sacrificed for our freedom. Acclaimed singer-songwriter Ric Ross, known for his moving November 11 cenotaph
ceremony performances throughout Simcoe County, presents this powerful live showcase of original songs.

REFLECTIONS was first inspired by family stories about Ric's great uncle Arthur Bell, a young Barrie school principal when he volunteered to serve in the First World War.

Ric's body of work grew to over 20 songs: "Ring the Bells for Bell was about Uncle Arthur who was killed in battle on August 26, 1918. A second song asking the question, Who Were They? came shortly after."

Three songs have been recorded for release this season in tandem with live showcases in Barrie, Alliston, and Midland in prime performance spaces. An album of 12 songs is scheduled for Canada-wide release in 2027 supported by Legion branches across the country: "We will perform all 12 songs from the album and a handful of others people are asking for."

Join us Saturday, November 7, 7pm at the Five Points Theatre in Barrie, ON where these poignant songs come to life supported by a stellar ensemble featuring Ian Ross, Joe Huron, Amanda MacLeod, Steven K. Henry, Stephen McNie and special guest, Samantha Windover.

Don't miss this unique concert tribute to our veterans, their stories, and a heritage that makes us proud if who we are.
Seating is limited.

Order tickets online now or at the venue box office beginning September 30. It is Ric's intention to support the Barrie Poppy campaign with the November 7 concert.
