More announcements from the Ford government.
More confusion for the people expected to make it work.

Ontario’s new attendance policy was announced without proper consultation or clear direction for schools. Now, with questions piling up, the Minister’s answer is to leave key decisions to principals and local judgment.

That is exactly why local decision-making matters.

At the same time, this government is trying to severely restrict local bargaining and move more decisions to Queen’s Park.

Teachers, education workers, and local school communities understand what their students need. The government should respect their expertise instead of centralizing more control while leaving them to sort out poorly planned policies after the fact.

Save the Date!

Join in a provincial-wide day of action ❤️✊💜 on Wednesday, September 16, OPSEU/SEFPO members will join teachers and education workers across Ontario for a province-wide Day of Action to defend publicly funded education!

Together with Educators from ETFO, OSSTF, OECTA, AEFO, OSBCU, CSCSO, EWAO, and OCEW, we represent more than 275,000 workers 💪

Our contracts have expired -
We are united in demanding properly funded and staffed schools, better working conditions for the students and workers, who make public education possible!

We are standing together, while the Ford government is trying to divide!

Over 250,000 education workers are uniting together to protect publicly funded education in Ontario.

OPSEU/SEFPO President JP Hornick and fellow education union leaders are at the OSSTF Union Leadership Academy today to speak to the power and necessity of solidarity and collective action!

I had the opportunity to attend OSSTFs Leadership Conference yesterday, (thank you Martha Hradowy, OSSTF President for the personal shout out) 🥰 for the Education Unions leadership panel. It was another amazing moment to be part of and to see 7 Education Union Leaders united in our fight for public education ❤️✊💜

Thank you to OPSEU/SEFPO President JP Hornick for the continued support and advocation, and also the personal shout out for the work I’ve done to mobilize and organize the Education Sector within OPSEU. JP did a great job expressing the issues and challenges education workers are facing and the impact the lack of funding is having on education and public services in general!
