We’ve teamed up with the amazing team at Making Change to host a massive Father’s Day Celebration, and you are officially invited!

When: Sunday, June 21 | 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Where: Lampman Lane Park, Barrie, ON

Admission: FREE! No registration required—just show up!

What’s on the schedule?
We have tons of family-friendly activities lined up to keep everyone smiling:

🚚 Good Eats: Ms. Richie's Kitchen food truck will be on-site serving up incredible food available for purchase.

🪁 Fly a Piece of Local Art: We are thrilled to feature beautiful kites created by talented local artist Andrew Mattis! These unique kites will be available on-site for purchase via a small donation. Let's fill the Barrie sky with color!

💦 Cool Down: The Lampman Lane splash pad will be open, so don't forget the towels and swimsuits!

🎨 Endless Fun: Enjoy face painting, button making, basketball courts, and so much more.

Looking for the perfect way to celebrate this Father’s Day with your family? 🎉 Well, look no further, and join The Black Fathers Alliance & Making Change as we celebrate the day. Packed with laughter, fun, activities, and community spirit! 🥳

🍔 Food is available for purchase from the Ms. Richie’s Kitchen food truck!

🪁 Kite flying (kites available via small donation!)

Activities include, splash pad, basketball court, nail and face painting, kite flying, button making, outdoor games and much more!

Anti-racism is more than just "not being racist". In fact, it is an active commitment to creating a better world without racism. During Anti-Racism Awareness Week, we’re challenging ourselves to identify the systemic challenges in our own lives.

At The Black Fathers Alliance, we know that being passive isn't enough. Anti-racism means being proactive by advocating for our children in schools, ensuring fair treatment, and supporting one another wherever we go. It’s about changing the world for the better.

Our strength isn't just in our silence, but it's also in our intentional actions and the way we stand up for one another against racism.

From the Caribbean to Africa and everywhere in between, our community is shaped by a wide range of histories and perspectives.

Recognizing our different roots makes us stronger as a whole. When we embrace these diverse cultures, we allow ourselves to have a deeper sense of our identities and a stronger connection to the world around us.

At The Black Fathers Alliance, we acknowledge that we do not walk this path alone. We understand that the strength of our village is rooted in the incredible mothers and partners who lead alongside us every single day.

Today, we express our deepest gratitude to the women who co-pilot our lives and anchor our families. We celebrate the diversity of motherhood in all its forms by honoring every background and journey.

To the women who help us build, protect, and inspire the next generation: your impact is the foundation of our future. We see you, we appreciate you, and we stand with you.

The reality is that systemic racism, financial pressures, and bias from the medical system make it harder for Black men to navigate life's challenges. Because of these external factors, we often can't find services that truly understand our specific needs.

This creates a gap between the daily stress we face and the outlets available to us.

Closing this gap starts with calling out these barriers. Strength is not about staying silent under pressure. It is about recognizing that these obstacles are real and making sure we have spaces where we are actually seen and heard.

To all Black fathers, this is a sign for you to step back and realize that your well-being is the foundation for everything else.

While Black Canadians report higher rates of psychological distress, they are significantly less likely to utilize available services compared to the general population.

There is a clear gap between the stress they carry and the support they actually get. For many Black fathers, the pressure to be a pillar means we are taught to keep our problems to ourselves.

Changing these numbers starts with changing the culture. Strength isn't about carrying everything alone. It is about acknowledging the weight and finding a space to be real.

Dear black fathers, this is your sign to reach out to a mental health professional if necessary.
