Thank you to Terry Lynn for donating an incredible collection of Beanie Babies to Hospice Simcoe – Seasons Centre. These little companions will be shared with children who have a loved one receiving care at our Hospice Residence, as well as children participating in programs at Seasons Centre.

Whether tucked under an arm, brought along to a group, or held close during a difficult moment, each one has the opportunity to offer a little extra comfort and companionship when it’s needed most.

If you had walked into our Grief Busters Camp this summer, you might not have realized right away that you were at a grief support program. You would have seen kids playing, creating and making new friends, because at Hospice Simcoe – Seasons Centre, play is part of how kids process grief.

During our July and August camps, children who have experienced the death of someone important to them came together for a day that made space for both grief and fun. They explored their feelings, connected with other kids who understood what it was like to miss someone, and had the chance to be kids.

Thank you to every child who joined us this summer, and to our donors who made these days possible. Your generosity helps create safe, supportive spaces where grieving children can connect, play and feel understood, because no one should have to navigate grief alone.

For seven years, the Mike Gilbertson Memorial Golf Tournament has brought family, friends, and community members together to honour Mike’s memory while giving back to our community.

On Saturday, September 12, golfers will once again take to the course at Shanty Bay Golf Club, with all proceeds supporting Hospice Simcoe – Seasons Centre. The day includes a round of golf, BBQ dinner, prizes, a silent auction, and, most importantly, an opportunity to make a meaningful difference for local individuals and families navigating illness, dying, death, and grief.

A little friendly rivalry has once again turned into an incredible show of support for our community! This year’s 911 Crosstown Classic brought Barrie Police Service and Barrie Fire and Emergency Service together on the ice. It raised an incredible $38,000 for Hospice Simcoe – Seasons Centre, bringing the event’s two-year total to $87,000.

Thank you to the Barrie Police Service, Barrie Fire And Emergency Service, Action First Aid, the 911 Crosstown Classic organizing committee, sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who bought a ticket, joined the 50/50 draw or cheered from the stands. Your support helps ensure local individuals and families can continue to access compassionate end-of-life care and grief and bereavement support when they need it most.

Scott Scandrett was a great friend, a big brother and a role model to Tim Tokarz and Greg Scandrett. Even before Scott died in December 2025, they knew they wanted to find a way to give back in recognition of the exceptional care he received at Hospice Simcoe – Seasons Centre. A golf tournament felt like the perfect tribute. “Scott loved golf; he would golf in the snow,” Tim shared. On August 7, that idea became a reality as Shanty Bay Golf Club hosted the first-ever Scott Scandrett Memorial Golf Tournament. With an incredible turnout and plenty of enthusiasm, the tournament raised an amazing $10,000 in Scott’s memory.

Thank you to Tim, Greg and everyone who helped organize the tournament, spread the word, sponsored a hole or played in honour of Scott’s memory. Your generosity will help ensure that the same compassionate end-of-life care Scott received remains available to individuals and families in our community, at no cost.
