This week, our club was pleased to welcome Marty Williamson, Vice President and General Manager of Hockey Operations for the Barrie Colts, and Dylan Smoskowitz, Head Coach of the Barrie Colts.
They shared valuable insights into the commitment, discipline and dedication required of young athletes, as well as the responsibilities placed on their shoulders both on and off the ice. Their presentation offered a meaningful perspective on the importance of leadership, accountability and building a strong team culture.
We also appreciated their reflections on creating opportunities for young people to learn and grow through failure. Setbacks can be challenging, but they can also provide some of the most important lessons, helping individuals develop resilience, confidence and a deeper understanding of what it takes to improve.
Thank you to Marty and Dylan for taking the time to speak with our club and for sharing their experiences and perspectives. Their message was a valuable reminder that leadership is developed through commitment, mentorship, responsibility and the willingness to continue learning.
