Barrie Food Bank provides food relief at no cost to individuals and families of our community who are in need, and supports them on their journey towards well-being. We collect food donations throughout the year, and with a team of 200 volunteers, we distribute this food to over 6000 individuals each month.

More Than Canned Food 🥕🥛❤️
When you think of a food bank, you might picture canned goods, but we’re so much more than canned food!

The produce available at Barrie Food Bank comes from a variety of incredible sources, including Costco, local grocery partners, farmers, and generous community donors. We receive lots of fresh produce donations, helping us provide a greater variety of nutritious food to our neighbours.

A special shoutout to Harris Farms for helping us bring fresh, local food to our community! 🚜🥕 Your support makes a difference.

Meet Derek! Derek currently works as a local Realtor and property manager. Outside of work, he loves staying active, being outdoors, listening to live music, and spending quality time with his family. Derek is married, has one daughter and a baby boy on the way!

At Barrie Food Bank, Derek supports the visitors of our emergency food program (The Corner Store) and ensures that everyone who walks through the door is treated with fairness, dignity and respect. He also supports our intake team by assisting our monthly visitors through active listening and compassion.

For Derek, volunteering is a meaningful way to support neighbours navigating tough times, knowing food insecurity can impact anyone. The most rewarding part is both the clients he assists and the incredible team of volunteers and staff he works alongside!

Thank you, Derek, for your dedication, empathy, and ongoing commitment to our community. We are so grateful to have you on our team!

A heartfelt thank you to MPP Khanjin’s office for their generous donation of 2,389 lbs of nourishing food, including 32 cases each of chickpeas, red lentils, and rice.

This incredible donation of dried legumes and rice will help provide countless nourishing meals for local families, children, and seniors in our community.

Every case makes a difference, and your support helps ensure that nutritious food reaches neighbours who need it most. We are so grateful for your commitment to supporting our community and helping us fight hunger in Barrie.

Come join our mission as Client & Volunteer Care Coordinator (Full-Time, Maternity Leave Contract).
If you’re compassionate, organized, enjoy working with people, and want a role where you can make a meaningful difference every day, this opportunity may be for you!
This hands-on role works directly with both clients and volunteers, helping to create a welcoming, respectful and inclusive environment at the Barrie Food Bank. From supporting clients through our Marketplace and Corner Store, to welcoming and onboarding volunteers, coordinating School Fuel deliveries, and assisting with programs such as Little Pantries and After the Bell, no two days are quite the same!
We’re looking for someone with strong interpersonal and organizational skills who can approach people with empathy, professionalism and respect, and who shares our commitment to supporting individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Namaste North Yoga Studio to Barrie Food Bank! 💙

Together, their team and clients donated an incredible $2,900, including generous contributions from their clients and proceeds donated directly by the business.

A huge thank you to Krista and Jamie for encouraging your clients to give back and support our community. 🙏

We are truly grateful for local businesses that recognize the importance of giving back. We are from the community, for the community, and we need your support to continue helping our hungry neighbours.

We had the wonderful opportunity to welcome the head coach and U11 girls from the Barrie Storm Softball team to Barrie Food Bank! 💙

Throughout July, the Barrie Storm U11 Jr. team collected food and other needed items for our community. Before their final practice and heading off to Regionals, the team brought in an incredible 101 lbs of donations; these represent 130 meals for our community! 👏🥫

Our team was so happy to welcome the girls, accept their donation, and share with them how Barrie Food Bank supports individuals and families in our community through vital programs and services.

It was truly inspiring to see these young athletes learning about the different ways they can make a difference in their community. 💙

A huge thank you to the coaches and parents for planting the seed of giving and community support in these young girls. And to the girls: thank you for your generosity, your energy, and for making our visit so much fun! ⚾💙
