This Thanksgiving, we’re grateful for everyone who makes community-led change possible.

We’re thankful for the Project Lead Volunteers who generously guide and support projects; the local leaders who understand their communities; and the volunteers who strengthen Devxchange through grant research, social media, administrative support and other important behind-the-scenes work.

We’re also deeply grateful for the donors who choose to support this work. Together, you help community-led projects respond to locally identified priorities such as education, healthcare, clean water and livelihood opportunities.

Thank you for believing in the knowledge and leadership already present within communities—and for helping turn locally led ideas into action.

From everyone at Devxchange, we wish you a warm and happy Thanksgiving.

Mental health is influenced by more than individual habits.

Safety, stable housing, education, meaningful work, supportive relationships and a sense of belonging can all affect a person’s well-being. Conflict, displacement, poverty and isolation can place additional strain on individuals and families.

Through Devxchange, Canadians support community-led projects that respond to priorities identified by local communities. Whether creating access to education, livelihood opportunities, practical resources or compassionate support, these initiatives can help people build greater stability, connection and hope.

On World Mental Health Day, we recognize the importance of listening to communities and supporting locally led solutions that care for the whole person.

Practical skills can create new possibilities.

Through The Newlivelihood Project, students are learning sewing skills that can help them pursue employment, generate income and build greater independence.

This training provides participants with practical knowledge they can use to support themselves, contribute to their families and create opportunities within their communities.

By supporting community-led initiatives like The Newlivelihood Project, Devxchange helps Canadians invest in locally identified solutions that equip people with skills for the future.

October 5 is World Teachers’ Day.

Access to education can help children and young people build the knowledge, confidence and skills they need to create new opportunities for themselves, their families and their communities.

Through Devxchange, Canadians support community-led projects that help remove barriers to education—from providing school supplies and learning resources to supporting scholarships, educational programs and safe places for children to learn.
Teachers are an essential part of this work. Their knowledge, encouragement and commitment help students recognize their potential and prepare for the future.

On World Teachers’ Day, we recognize the educators working alongside communities to help children learn, grow and pursue brighter futures.

At Devxchange, positive thinking is more than a mindset—it's the foundation for meaningful action and lasting change. It inspires us to see possibilities, overcome challenges, and create opportunities for communities around the world.

Today, we're highlighting the Mushroom Project, one of the many initiatives made possible through the support of our community.

Together, we've already achieved remarkable milestones:
-Established a mushroom production facility
-Trained and equipped 670 farming families
-Launched a nursery capable of producing 100,000 seedlings

Every milestone begins with hope, and every contribution brings us one step closer to lasting impact.

Today, on International Literacy Day, we recognize that literacy is more than the ability to read and write—it's the foundation for opportunity, independence, and a brighter future.
At Devxchange, we believe that access to education is a fundamental right, not a privilege. Yet, more than 700 million adults worldwide still lack basic literacy skills due to limited access to quality education.

Through our Greenfield Kids Foundation program, we're working to help change that. The initiative established a primary school in Uganda, providing children with access to education they otherwise would not have had. Funds raised support essential school needs, including educational materials, meals, clothing, and other critical resources.

Education doesn't just open classroom doors—it opens doors to opportunity. By investing in children's education today, we're helping empower future generations to reach their full potential and build brighter futures.

At Devxchange, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, access essential resources and realize their full potential. While significant progress has been made around the world, many children and families continue to face barriers to safety, healthcare, education and the support they need to thrive.

That is why Devxchange provides grants to community-led organizations for charitable activities that advance education, relieve poverty and strengthen communities. These grants support locally led programs designed to respond to the needs and priorities of the communities they serve.

Today, we’re proud to share a success story from the grant-supported God Bless Orphanage program. Since 2018, the program has supported Marko Meschack’s secondary education, helping him pursue his academic goals. Today, Marko is attending college to become a pharmacy assistant.

His journey is a powerful reminder of what is possible when people have access to education and opportunity. Education can help individuals support themselves, strengthen their communities, improve access to essential services and contribute to long-term economic development.

Today, on National Women’s Equality Day, we recognize the progress that has been made toward gender equality while acknowledging the work that still lies ahead.

Around the world, nearly 3 billion women do not have access to the same career opportunities as men because of restrictive laws and systemic barriers. These inequalities limit women's ability to earn an income, support their families, and reach their full potential.

At Devxchange, we believe that every woman deserves the opportunity to build a secure and independent future. That's why we work alongside communities to create sustainable pathways to education, employment, and entrepreneurship for women and girls.

In Ethiopia, many girls face significant challenges in accessing the skills and opportunities needed to achieve long-term economic independence. Through our Newlivelihood program, we provide vocational training, practical life skills, and entrepreneurship support that equip young women with the tools they need to find meaningful employment or start their own businesses.

When women are empowered with skills and opportunities, the benefits extend far beyond the individual. Families become more financially secure, communities grow stronger, and future generations are better positioned to thrive.

This National Women’s Equality Day, join us in supporting a future where every girl has the opportunity to learn, work, lead, and build the life she chooses.
