We are an independent, non-profit charitable ministry, providing safe, little to no cost, After School Program, March Break Camp and 4-6 weeks of Summer Camp for children and youth ages 5-14. Located in the older north east end of Barrie, Ontario Canada, we currently are connected to the community of families living within walking distance. We pick up at Oakley Park, Codrington and Maple Grove P
ublic Schools when the bell goes at 3:20pm. Camp Promise runs every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 3:30pm to 5:30 pm from September to May, after school. After School Program provides an opportunity for children and youth to meet in a safe and inviting place, with trustworthy leaders of all ages, who are trained to engage children and youth with love and respect. Within the two hour time period, the children will experience:
- A healthy snack
- The opportunity to work with assistance on homework, and practice reading skills one on one, in small groups or on their own
- Participation in games, sports, arts and crafts, music and special events and experiences
- Learning together from the Bible through interactive formats designed for their age and stage of understanding
- Lots of fun and wonderful opportunities to develop friendships with peers and healthy relationships with trusted leaders
Camp Promise looks to the future and is committed to training up young leaders to care about others and lead by example with their own lives. We provide opportunity for high school and college co-op placements and for interested high school students to learn by volunteering. Internships are also a big part of how we allow for leadership development and we welcome interns locally and from Germany and hope to grow to add other national and international connections! March Break Camp : Three full days during March Break each year, for those already attending the after school program. Summer Camp: The full month of July each year. Saturday fun days are outings for smaller groups of two or three children per Saturday throughout the school year, to explore different experiences in Barrie and surrounding area with trusted leaders. On Sundays, children, youth and families are invited to come with mission interns to Sunday morning church services if they would like to!
