Rotary Club of Barrie The Rotary Club of Barrie is a not-for-profit organization that was chartered in 1946 and is a member of Rotary International.

The objects of Rotary are to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

1. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

2. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity t

o serve society;

3. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

4. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

We're getting excited for Kempenfest, and we want YOU to be part of it. 🙌

The Rotary Club of Barrie Beer Garden is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and it's one of those Barrie summer moments you don't want to miss. Our volunteers host you at the Beer Gardens and Mainstage while you explore a huge variety of vendor tents right by the bay.

Take a break from checking out the huge arts and crafts show to savour amazing bites and a refreshing drink, sway to live music drifting over the lake, and soak in the kind of summer energy that only Kempenfest brings. 💙

The Rotary Club of Barrie welcomed Professor William Van Wijngaarden for a presentation that was equal parts fascinating, data-heavy, and thought-provoking.

Drawing on 60 years of climate data, Professor Van Wijngaarden shared perspectives suggesting that greenhouse gases may have a smaller impact on global temperatures than commonly believed, and that much of the warming trend could be largely natural in origin. He also touched on ocean data and CO₂, offering some perspectives that challenge the mainstream narrative.

His message wasn't to abandon environmental responsibility, far from it. Reducing pollution and protecting our environment still matters. ♻️ But the presentation sparked genuine debate and reminded us that some of the world's biggest questions don't come wrapped in simple answers.

It was science, discussion, and a whole lot of charts, the kind of speaker night that stays with you.

This week, Al Jones took the floor for his classification speech, and he made it one to remember.

Al is a Wealth and Estate Planning professional, with an infectious personality and a natural gift for storytelling. He spoke with genuine warmth about his wife Sue, his sons Adam and Connor, and the community and country he holds so close to his heart. The pride in that room was unmistakable. 🌟

Al also brought his talk to the evening meeting, where it was equally well received. Life, career, Rotary, and of course, tea!

A few club reminders. Committee selection sheets are making the rounds for 2026–27 (a great time to try something new!), and a Highway Clean-Up is being organized for the Sunnidale Road area. Watch for details from David McCullough.

The 39th annual Barrie Fun Run is officially in the books, and what a night it was! 🙌

🏃‍♂️ Thank you to every single person who ran, walked, cheered, volunteered, and showed up for our community on May 27th. The waterfront was electric, the kids' race was adorable, and the community spirit was everything we love about Barrie.

Every dollar raised goes directly back into local programs and causes right here at home. You made that happen. 💙

A lot happened this month at the Rotary Club of Barrie, and we're still catching our breath. 🙌

Spring Tonic is a wrap, and what a weekend it was. Saturday broke the daily revenue record, and we're on track to surpass last year's $50,000 total. None of it happens without our incredible volunteers!

The Barn Burner brought in a final total of $10,493, exceeding every expectation and setting a new bar for next year.

Our spotlight speaker was Jessica Harris from Waypoint Centre For Mental Health Care , who delivered a genuinely moving presentation on mental health recovery, community care, and what it means to show up for people at their most vulnerable. Waypoint serves over 5 million people across Central Ontario, and in the past year alone, supported more than 13,000 individuals across 80,000+ visits. Her reminder that recovery is not linear stayed with the room long after she finished.

President Todd thanked Jessica and made a donation to Youth Haven on her behalf. 💙
