Gilda's Club Simcoe Muskoka Thank to the generosity of our donors, everything we offer is free to members. We build community, so we can take on cancer together.

Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka, an affiliate of the Cancer Support Community, is dedicated to providing support, education and hope to all people impacted by cancer. Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka opened its Red Door in 2010 after a seven year capital campaign spearheaded by Patricia Gilbert. After watching a friend’s experience with breast cancer years earlier, and then living her own cancer journey, P

atricia and her husband John invited the community to join them in their mission to create a place where people diagnosed with cancer, and their family and friends, could come together as a “cancer support community”. Gilda’s Club’s warm and welcoming 10,000 square foot clubhouse is conveniently located across the street from Royal Victoria Hospital and the Simcoe Muskoka Regional Cancer Program. Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka hosts evidence-based programming that includes professionally-facilitated support groups, healthy lifestyle classes, social activities, educational lectures and community resource information. We firmly believe that no one should have to take on cancer alone; as such, we always have been and always will be absolutely free of charge.

The sun came out just in time and we welcomed over 50 of our amazing members and volunteers to share a meal!

✨ Meet the Team: Jodi Brereton, Program Director ✨

We’re excited to introduce Jodi Brereton, our Program Director at Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka!

Jodi is a Registered Psychotherapist with a background in expressive arts therapy and a passion for community, creativity, and supporting others. She completed postgraduate studies in expressive arts therapy in Saas-Fee, Switzerland and Cambridge, Massachusetts, with a focus on community art.

Outside of Gilda’s Club, Jodi is equally passionate about the outdoors. She volunteers with the Marl-Tiny-Matchedash Conservation Association and serves as a Land Steward with the Muskoka Conservancy. When she’s not at the Club, you might find her alpine skiing, playing doubles tennis or golf, paddling, hiking, or spending time with family and friends.

We’re so happy to have Jodi as part of our team and look forward to the care, creativity, and experience she brings to our Gilda’s Club community. ❤️

Behind our Red Doors, there is space for men to be strong and vulnerable.

Cancer can bring fear, uncertainty, anger, grief and isolation — feelings that can be difficult to talk about. At Gilda’s Club Simcoe Muskoka, men impacted by cancer can walk through our doors knowing they don’t have to have the right words, put on a brave face, or carry it all on their own.

Here, vulnerability is strength. Asking for support is strength. And being surrounded by people who understand can make all the difference.
