Today, September 30, Blacks For All Races (BFAR) joins Canadians in observing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

We honour the First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples, the Survivors of residential schools, the children who never returned home, and the families and communities whose lives continue to be affected by this painful history.

Reconciliation requires more than remembrance. It calls upon each of us to listen, learn, acknowledge the truth, challenge injustice, and build relationships rooted in dignity and mutual respect.

As an organization committed to bringing communities together, BFAR stands in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples and recognizes that our different histories can inform a shared commitment to justice, understanding and a more inclusive future.

May today strengthen our collective resolve to turn remembrance into meaningful action and ensure that the lessons of the past help shape a better Canada for generations to come.

Dear friends of BFAR: Join BFAR and other community organizations at the upcoming:

“Together We Thrive: Community Care & Sickle Cell Awareness “event, taking place on Saturday, September 26, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Morgan Russell Community Centre in Innisfil.

The event organizer, Centre for Inclusive Health Equity Collaborative (CIHEC) is collaborating with the Sickle Cell Awareness Group of Ontario (SCAGO) to bring this free community event to Innisfil.

CIHEC’s goal is to create a welcoming and engaging afternoon where community members can learn more about sickle cell disease, connect with local organizations and services, and have meaningful conversations about health and community care.

The afternoon will also include food, activities, community resource tables, and opportunities for people to connect with one another.

🇨🇦Happy Canada Day from BFAR🇨🇦

Yesterday at Barrie City Hall, BFAR and other community leaders sat for a roundtable discussion with the Honourable Graham McGregor, Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism of Ontario.

On the panel were also the Attorney General of Ontario, the Honourable Doug Downey, Counsellor Adamu Niggussi and the Honourable Andrea Khanjin.

Many thanks to Counsellor Niggussi’s office for facilitating this empowering discussion and the collaborative work with the Mayor’s office and the provincial government towards building a stronger, united and resilient Canada.

Today, on Father's Day, Blacks For All Races (BFAR) proudly joins families and communities across Canada in celebrating the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, guardians, mentors, and father figures whose love, sacrifice, and guidance help shape future generations.

At BFAR, we understand that strong communities are built upon strong relationships. Fathers help instill values of integrity, compassion, responsibility, and perseverance.

These qualities empower young people to become leaders and positive contributors to society.

As we celebrate today, let us also remember fathers who are no longer with us. Their legacy lives on through the lessons they taught, the love they shared, and the lives they touched.

To every father and father figure in our community, across Canada and beyond, we extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation.

May your day be filled with love, joy, recognition, and the company of those who cherish you most.

Blacks For All Races (BFAR) was honoured to be a part of the 2026 Wellness Fair that held last Saturday during Mental Health Week.

We sincerely commend the organizers for creating a space that encouraged meaningful conversations surrounding mental health, community resources, and collective care.

We were especially encouraged by the strong turnout and the spirit of togetherness displayed by participants and attendees alike.

Events such as this remind us that community wellness extends beyond physical health; it includes social connection, cultural inclusion, emotional support, and equitable access to resources.

BFAR also extends gratitude to the general public and partner organizations for such an incredible turnout.

Together, through partnership and shared purpose, we can continue building a healthier, stronger, and more connected community for all.
