✨ The first step on a new path is often an open door.

In the Canadian Rockies, a new Indigenous Residency Scholarship is helping create pathways for Indigenous participation in the ski industry.

Delivered in partnership between SkiBig3 and Nonstop Snow, the pilot program provided participants with accommodation, meals, lift access, training, and Level 1 ski instructor certification, removing financial barriers and opening the door to new career opportunities. 🎿🏔️

More than a scholarship, it's an example of how collaboration can create meaningful opportunities, strengthen representation, and help build a more inclusive future for tourism. 💙

What if doing the right thing for the park came with a little reward? 🚗🌲

A new initiative "Park Mode" is testing a different approach to encouraging responsible travel in Banff National Park.

Through pop-up activations in Banff, visitors arriving together in groups of four or more have been surprised with rewards, from complimentary admission to the Whyte Museum to sightseeing lift tickets at Mt. Norquay. 🎟️🏔️

The idea is simple: small choices, like carpooling, can help reduce traffic, parking demand, and emissions while creating a better experience for everyone.

It’s an example of how the tourism industry can test new ideas and find creative ways to encourage choices that are better for people and the park. 💚

Did you know Parks Canada has a volunteer program that gives community members and visitors the chance to help care for Banff National Park? 🌲🏔️💚

From habitat restoration and trail monitoring to wildlife observations and litter cleanups, volunteers play an important role in protecting the park and helping others experience it safely and responsibly. 🌿🥾🐻

The program is a great example of how conservation and tourism can work together—and how we can all play a role in caring for this incredible place. 🤝

Today, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, we recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures, and ongoing contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. 💛

We acknowledge that Banff National Park is within the present-day territories of the Treaty 6, 7, and 8 Nations, as well as the Métis Homeland. For millennia, these lands and waters have been places of sustenance, ceremony, trade, and travel.

🪶 As part of our collective vision to in Banff and Lake Louise, the Indigenous Connections Trail to Tomorrow recognizes Indigenous tourism as an important pathway for advancing Reconciliation.

Through collaboration with Indigenous communities, Peoples, and businesses, this work supports market entry, strengthens relationships, and helps elevate Indigenous tourism experiences across the region.
