We're throwing this out to the public for the first time...
As many of you know we are working on a colossal book covering the complete natural history of Bancroft and the surrounding area. I have been preparing almost all of the illustrations for the book myself, but the book will also feature paintings and drawings from other like-minded artists. The book is being styled in an antique art-nouveau design and to fit in with that, each piece of colour artwork is being given a dedicated "plate" page to make it stand out.
I have reached out to a number of local artists (and two non-local artists who I felt were excellent fits for other reasons) but I didn't want to leave out anyone who might want to be involved. This is already (even in it's incomplete state) the largest volume ever compiled on Bancroft's history, so the book itself will be a historic event for Bancroft. Some people have had to duck out of the project due to professional constraints and if you don't want to be involved or can't, there are no hard feelings - I only know that I would feel insulted if I were not invited to participate, so I am putting out this open invitation. If you are interested in getting involved, send us an email and we will figure out how to fit you in.
Absolutely no use of generative AI will be accepted.
There is also no deadline for this project. The book will be published when it is finished and ready.
There are four main ways you can be involved as an artist:
1) - modern landscapes
2) - modern plants and animals
3) - prehistoric landscapes
4) - prehistoric plants and animals
For the sake of consistency and realism, artists depicting extinct animals will be given specific design references to follow. Artists wishing to depict prehistoric landscapes will be provided with maps and landscape mockups.
If you are interested in being involved, or have any questions, please reach out.
Thank you.
