Legacy Place Society Supporting Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical/Fire Services, 911, Veterans, Military Personnel, Front Line Health Care AND THE FAMILIES Including:

Legacy Place Society exists to build family resiliency and legacies to withstand the unique challenges faced by Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical / Fire Fighter Services, 911 Dispatchers, Veterans and Military Personnel. The very nature of daily work within these professions can create emotional and physical havoc and the vicarious trauma, ptsd, operational or occupational stress injuries and the

psychological and physiological demands of the profession can become major stressors on the individual and their family. Often what is faced as a family as they try to understand and be supportive during recovery while maintaining family stability is a wide variety of challenges. What defines us is how our work is done as we act as a bridge of possibilities between the individual, their place of work and their families. Legacy Place Society is a registered charity that promotes a shared responsibility approach that encourages the individuals and their families to steer themselves through the everyday adversity, reframe the difficult realities of the profession and to encourage daily behaviors that are conducive to recharge and re-engage with themselves, their families and work place. The Charity does not replace any of the typical Employee Assistance Programs and is not a duplication of existing charities. Our work is done while acting as a bridge between the professional lives and their families in collaboration with the Services and other standing Charities specific to each individual Service. Our core values include Family, Empathy, Diversity, Inclusivity, Confidentiality, Collaboration and Integrity. Our objectives are about providing relevant and practical resources to help in early interventions, introduce resiliency possibilities and leave lasting legacies with the individual and family that is currently serving or retired. Superintendent Darren Berglind is a 25-year veteran of the Calgary Police Service whose career has spanned frontline patrol, homicide, undercover operations, organized crime investigations, district leadership, and executive command. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for driving meaningful change while supporting officer wellness and developing future leaders. Those who know him best would likely tell you that his greatest contribution has never been defined by rank, but by the way he cares for people.

Over the course of his policing career, Darren has led major investigations, pioneered innovative policing initiatives, and guided people through some of the most challenging moments of their professional and personal lives.

What many people do not know is that some of the most important lessons Darren learned about leadership, resilience, mental health, and human connection came not from policing, but from his own life. More than a decade ago, while building what appeared to be a successful career, Darren was privately struggling with addiction. Behind the rank and professional success was a man wrestling with shame, isolation, and questions about his own worth and future.

The decision to ask for help changed the course of his life.

For the past 13 years, Darren has remained committed to recovery while quietly supporting police officers, first responders, and others facing addiction, mental health challenges, and personal crises of their own. Those experiences have profoundly shaped the way he leads, the way he cares for people, and his belief that no one should have to suffer alone.

Legacy Place Society is honoured to have Superintendent Darren Berglind share a deeply and rarely spoken about personal story at the First Responders Su***de Awareness Behavior Health Symposium in Calgary on October 1. Registration is open https://legacyplacesociety.com/frsabhs-calgary/

Our hopes are for a speedy and full recovery of the injured paramedics and other driver involved in this accident. DiscoverAirdrie followed up with RCMP after Tuesday’s collision east of Beiseker involving an ambulance and a farm vehicle. RCMP initially described the farm vehicle as a farm tractor. In a written response Wednesday morning, RCMP said the farm vehicle was a sprayer and said the farmer was not injured.
RCMP said the cause of the collision remains under investigation and no further updates are expected.
In its initial release, RCMP said a male patient was airlifted in critical condition and two emergency medical services personnel were taken to hospital by ground ambulance with serious injuries but were in stable condition.
RCMP said the ambulance was transporting a patient with its emergency equipment activated, and both vehicles were travelling on Highway 9 when they collided.

Adriana LaGrange posted this today. Emergency Health Services–Alberta (EHS-Alberta) had been rebranding to ALTA Paramedic Health (APH), starting about a month ago.

The Health Sciences Association of Alberta, and Friends of Medicare had previously released statements regarding the rebranding basically saying this is a waste of time and money and that there are more important things to deal with.
