Burgess Dam Update – Bala | If you received a Voyent Alert! notice today, we would like to reassure residents that evacuation is not required.

The Burgess Dam in Bala is stable and operating as designed with added barriers in place to mitigate flooding, including sandbags and an aqua dam. Some controlled spillover is occurring; however, this is anticipated under current conditions and remains well within manageable limits.

Our contracted engineers and Public Works teams are closely monitoring conditions and ready to respond as needed.

We apologize for any concern this may have caused. Our goal will always be to help keep the community informed early and prepared should conditions evolve.

For current flood information in the Township, please visit our website or call us at 705-765-3156: https://www.muskokalakes.ca/our-community/fire-and-emergency-services/flood-information/

The CPKC Holiday Train rolls back into Toronto this Saturday for its 27th year on the rails. The two brightly lit trains are traveling across Canada and the U.S. from November 19 to December 21, making stops to collect donations for local food banks.

The annual tradition draws big crowds at Toronto-area stations, where the train’s arrival usually includes live performances and community events. CPKC says every stop helps support food security programs at a time when demand is at a high. The visit marks one of the most anticipated holiday moments for families across the GTA.
