Some good news to share this morning! The Skyline Trail in Cape Breton Highlands National Park is back open, and Fortress of Louisbourg reopened today at 9:30 a.m. (a few connecting trails remain closed).

At the same time, the State of Local Emergency remains in effect in Richmond, Inverness and Victoria Counties and the Town of Port Hawkesbury. Numerous roads remain closed across these areas due to flooding and washouts.

If you're in or travelling toward the affected counties, please avoid all non-essential travel, never drive through flooded roads or around barricades, and follow the direction of local emergency officials.
For the full list of closures, visit our Travel Update page at cbisland.com/en/blog/travel-update, or check 511 Nova Scotia before you travel.

Thank you to everyone working through this, and please stay safe!

Rain in the forecast? Baddeck plans are still ON!

Spend some time exploring the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site (admission is FREE until September 7!), warm up with a coffee and something tasty, browse the shops around town, and finish off the day with a Baddeck ceilidh. 🎻

And if the weather has you wondering what to do next, stop by the Baddeck Visitor Information Centre. We’re always happy to help you find something to see or do, rain or shine!

A little rain never hurt a Baddeck day. 🌧️

Checking in is easy, leaving could be the problem…

Between the gardens, sunny patio, peaceful grounds and The Lookout Restaurant right on site, Auberge Gisele’s Inn makes settling into Baddeck pretty easy.

When you’re ready to explore, you’re only about a two-minute walk from Baddeck’s main street.

Not sure what to do next? Their reception display keeps guests in the loop on local events and things to do around Cape Breton.

Then again… those red Adirondack chairs might convince you to stay put a little longer. ☀️

Turns out, boats are a little high-maintenance too. ⚓

Luckily, Baddeck Marine knows what to do about it.

From haul-outs and repairs to maintenance, restoration, storage, moorings, wharfage and the marine store, there’s a whole lot happening beyond the docks.

Basically, if your boat has a to-do list… this is probably where it wants to go.

Baddeck Marine, keeping Cape Breton boating since 1973.
