Construction 🚧 of the new Net Zero Twin pad & community rooms

Construction is officially underway!!

As of April 15, 2026, crews have broken ground on a net-zero twin pad arena, complete with expanded dressing rooms and modern community programming spaces. The sight of excavation equipment on site marks an exciting milestone after years of planning and community collaboration.

This project is about much more than a second ice surface. The new facility will feature two versatile community rooms designed to support a wide range of programming—from youth and senior activities to fitness classes, wellness initiatives, meetings, workshops, and local events.

Built with sustainability in mind, the net-zero design reflects a commitment to environmental responsibility while creating a space that will serve generations to come.

As an expansion of the newly named Ayr Farmers Mutual Insurance Company Community Centre , this development will become a true community hub—bringing people together for sport, connection, and shared experiences.

Twin Pad & Community Centre Project Update 💙

Construction is happening, and momentum continues to build as the Live & Play 2 Campaign brings the Twin Pad Arena & new Community Centre closer to reality.

This project is about more than adding a second ice pad. It also includes expanded programming rooms and flexible community spaces within the community centre — creating new opportunities for:

• Youth and senior programming
• Fitness classes and wellness activities
• Community meetings and workshops
• Local events, celebrations, and gatherings
• Inclusive programs serving residents of all ages

These versatile, multi-use spaces will give local organizations, families, and community groups a place to come together all year long—creating opportunities to connect, collaborate, and grow beyond the rink and throughout the entire facility

It’s happening !!!

Big things are taking shape at the NDCC. Work is underway to build the twin pad and 3 community rooms. What’s now dirt and machinery will soon become a place where the community comes together to skate, play, connect, and create memories.

Stay tuned…the transformation is just getting started.
