AEMMC Worship Service – The Character of Christ’s Servant – 2 Timothy 2:14–26 - June 7, 2026

Why does character matter in the servant of Jesus Christ?
The servant of Christ is called to reflect the character of Christ by guarding the truth with their words, pursuing holiness with humility, and reflecting Christ in their relationships with others.
In his final letter to Timothy, the Apostle Paul shifts his focus from Timothy’s personal preparation for ministry to his responsibility of leading and discipling others. As Timothy faces false teaching, unnecessary arguments, and the challenges of shepherding God’s people, Paul reminds him that effective ministry is not simply about knowledge, ability, or influence. It is about being approved by God.
These instructions are not reserved for pastors and church leaders alone. Every follower of Jesus is called to represent Christ in how they speak, how they live, and how they treat those around them. In a culture that often values popularity, personal opinion, and self-importance, Paul reminds us that our greatest concern should be faithfulness to the One we serve, and our character is one of the clearest ways the world sees that faithfulness displayed.
Join us this Sunday as we continue our series through 2 Timothy, A Legacy of Faith – Faithful to the Finish, and discover how the character of Christ’s servant is formed through God’s truth, God’s holiness, and God’s grace.
