The ELC is a new initiative of the Workforce Planning Board of York Region and Bradford, West Gwillimbury; a partnership of York Region and South Simcoe’s employers, employment service providers, educators and policy makers. Together they bring a diverse representation of employers across the region to develop relationships and share knowledge in order to help our members hire and retain the employees they need today and in the future.

🎓 Ontario is investing in training for in-demand careers across the province.

Through the sixth round of the Skills Development Fund Training Stream, more than $9.8 million will support six training projects and help nearly 1,150 workers and job seekers prepare for new opportunities.

Training will focus on the skilled trades, construction, manufacturing, transportation and emerging technologies.

Ontario is expanding support for businesses and workers affected by new U.S. tariffs. 📦

Eligibility for the Protect Ontario Financing Program has been broadened to include more businesses facing tariff-related financial pressures. The program provides working-capital financing to help qualifying employers manage expenses such as payroll, lease payments and utilities.

By helping businesses maintain operations and keep workers on the job, the expanded program aims to protect employment and strengthen Ontario’s workforce during continued trade uncertainty.

🚀 Applications are open for the Vaughan cohort of Skills Generator: Human x Tech!

This free, 10-week program powered by Youth Challenge International, City of Vaughan, MediaSmarts and Ontario Trillium Foundation gives young people ages 18–24 the opportunity to build future-ready skills, learn how to use AI ethically and effectively, and gain experience working on a real-world community project.

Participants will take part in virtual workshops, mentorship and three in-person events in Vaughan while expanding their networks and strengthening their resumés. No previous experience is required!

📈 Canada's labour market continued to strengthen in July.

Canada added 75,000 jobs, while the national unemployment rate fell to 6.4%, marking the third consecutive monthly decline. Employment gains were led by wholesale and retail trade, finance and insurance, and professional, scientific and technical services.
