Katie’s latest op-ed is resonating with community members!

Brian Pastoor, a York Region reader, responded with a letter to the editor in support of Katie’s arguments. Brian emphasizes many points such as calling for youth voices to be listened to & accounted for at the municipal level.

Huge thanks to Brian for voicing their support for Katie & youth all around!

Although Katie had no plan on running, she did work on the Campaign team for a King Township Candidate this election season. The YFC encourages young folks to take advantage of ‘s programming to get them familiar with municipal engagement in their own backyards, which may lead to a future role in a campaign team or running for office themselves!

If you’re still deciding on who to vote for, one thing you can do is consider the ways our Municipal Candidates talk about food, land, and housing.

NB: this is not an exhaustive list of Candidates & their views! To encourage critical thinking about Candidates, this post provides information retrieved from some Candidates’ platforms, whose food/land/housing discourse was most readily available & accessible to voters.

We are a non-partisan youth group and we urge voters to READ, QUESTION, and HOLD CANDIDATES ACCOUNTABLE for promises pre- and post-election.

While you’re at it, check out Social Planning Council of York Region’s report card on what your Municipal Candidates will do about housing! [link in post]
